Forest Gnome

Forest Gnomes are a Sub-Race of Gnome native to The Old World. They are the least common type of Gnome and so rarely encounter members of other Races that some doubt their very existence. They are a playable Sub-Race best-suited to Classes which take advantage of their sharp wits and natural talent for stealth, such as Rogue and Warlock (see http://dnd5e.wikidot.com/gnome).

Basic Information

Anatomy

Forest Gnomes are shorter and lighter than Rock Gnomes and, on average, are the Old World's smallest sentient beings. Most have tan or brown skin and a rounded face with blunt features. Both genders sport thick curly hair and males grow bushy beards, which they typically leave loose and uncut.

Additional Information

Social Structure

Forest Gnomes are reclusive creatures who go to great lengths to maintain their solitude. They typically live alone until marriage, gathering with others of their kind only during the solstice, equinox, and new year festivals. They strive to live in harmony with nature and, thus, prefer a primitive lifestyle, nesting in caves or simple burrows. In stark contrast to Rock Gnomes, Forest Gnomes prefer abstract pursuits, such as art, philosophy, and theology, to the practical sciences.

Facial characteristics

Forest Gnomes have blunt knobby faces, with high foreheads, full cheeks, and broad noses. Most have brown or black eyes and brown, black, or grey hair.

Geographic Origin and Distribution

Forest Gnomes are indigenous to the continent of Latia Minor and have a notable presence in Dunlagh and Inismore.

Average Intelligence

Despite their lack of interest in technology, Forest Gnomes are just as intelligent as their Rock Gnome brethren. They are naturally inclined toward philosophical pursuits and are frequently sought after by Human mystics hoping to share in their fabled wisdom.
