Human
Humans are a Race native to The Old World, most notable for their great numbers, high adaptability, and political dominance over many Old World Nations. They are a playable Race well-suited to any Class (see https://www.dndwiki.io/races/variant-human) and have no known Sub-Races.
Basic Information
Anatomy
Humans are of Medium size and average build relative to other Races. They possess two arms, two legs, and no natural armor or weapons.
Biological Traits
Humans possess modest sexual dimorphism, with males being somewhat larger and stronger than females and possessing sharper facial features. Both genders have visible genitalia and females additionally have visible breasts.
Genetics and Reproduction
Humans reproduce sexually, have both male and female genders, and give live birth following a gestation period of approximately 9 months.
Growth Rate & Stages
Humans generally reach sexual maturity by 12 to 14 years of age and are considered adults by 16 to 18 years of age. Males are able to father children throughout their lives, while females are generally unable to bear children after the age of 50. Average Human life expectancy is between 60 and 70 years, but some individuals may live for 100 years or longer.
Ecology and Habitats
Humans are best suited for temperate climates, but are able to adapt and survive in a wide variety of environments, ranging from forests to deserts.
Dietary Needs and Habits
Humans are omnivores and are able to thrive on a wide range of diets. Most Humans primarily consume plant products, such as grains, vegetables, and fruit, which they occasionally supplement with cooked meat and animal products. Humans have moderate metabolisms and must eat multiple meals daily to remain healthy, but can survive on only water for up to a month if necessary.
Biological Cycle
Humans follow a diurnal life cycle. They are generally active during the day and sleep for 6 to 8 hours each night. They do not hibernate and their life cycle has no significant seasonal changes.
Additional Information
Social Structure
Humans are highly social and almost always live in groups, with social norms varying widely between cultures. The most common arrangement is for spouses and their children to share a residence, with young individuals moving out when they marry. Generally, many such family units exist together as part of a larger community in which labor is divided for mutual benefit.
Facial characteristics
Most Humans have brown, blue, or green eyes and rounded ears. Both genders grow hair on their scalps and males frequently have facial hair as well.
Geographic Origin and Distribution
Humans are widely distributed throughout the Old World and are its most numerous sentient species. They form a majority of the population on the continents of Latia Major, Latia Minor, and Thule.
Skeletal remains discovered by Adventurers from Gatefall have led to speculation that Humans, or creatures similar to them, may be indigenous to The New World as well.

Perception and Sensory Capabilities
Humans have relatively poor sight and hearing and do not possess Low-Light Vision or Darkvision. They have average proficiency with magic and no innate psionic powers.
Civilization and Culture
Major Organizations
Humans are the dominant Race in the Nations of Dunlagh, Eisen, Hellada, Karstadt, Montaigne, Sarmion, Vaticia, Vestenjar, and Vodacce and form a significant minority in Alderac, Ifri, and Mennavjar, as well. They also predominate in the Church of Pholtus and most other Pholtist denominations.
Gender Ideals
Human cultures vary widely in their traditional gender roles. Males frequently predominate in politics and business, though females may occupy positions of familial and religious authority, particularly within the Church of Pholtus.
Courtship Ideals
Humans generally mate for life, which most cultures formalize through marriage ceremonies. Romantic and sexual relationships outside of marriage and marital infidelity are, however, common, despite being stigmatized to varying degrees.
Average Technological Level
Human cultures vary in sophistication but generally possess a high level of technology, excelling particularly in the fields of large-scale agriculture, oceanic navigation, and military engineering.
Major Language Groups and Dialects
Humans speak a wide variety of Languages, most of which are regional. Examples include Dunnic, Eise, Helladic, Montaignard, Sarmi, Vatician, and Vodacci.
History
It is believed that Humans descend from a now-extinct humanoid Race known as the Ostor, as do Dwarves, Halflings, and Orcs. They have existed in the Old World since the Age of Building, when the first written histories were recorded, and founded the Latian Empire, from which most current Human cultures are descended, during the Golden Age. Countless Human civilizations have risen and fallen throughout history and they have frequently warred with one another, as well as with other Races.
Interspecies Relations and Assumptions
Humans have volatile relationships with other Races, and racial prejudice is widespread in many Human cultures. Their relations with Aasimar, Dwarves, and Elves are generally positive, whereas they are ancestral enemies of Dragonborn, Orcs, and Tieflings. Humans are capable of interbreeding with Aasimar, Dwarves, Elves, Orcs, and Tieflings, but such unions are often stigmatized (except in the case of Aasimar) and children resulting from them may be subject to ill treatment. Human-Dwarf hybrids are almost always infertile, while Human-Aasimar and Human-Tiefling hybrids tend to favor their non-human parent to such an extent that they are effectively Aasimar or Tieflings themselves. Human-Elf and Human-Orc hybrids are referred to as Half-Elves and Half-Orcs, respectively, and are often considered to be Races in their own right.
