New Hainan Socialist State
The New Hainan Socialist State is a highly bureaucratic star state organised under Marxist principles, centred around the habitable moon of New Hainan in the class-F Qiongzhou system. It broke away from the Union of Interstellar Communes in 2580 following the disastrous Pressburger-Columbian War and susbequent internal strife within the UIC. The Socialist State is notable for having entirely abolished currency, with goods and services being distributed by the state's enormous beaureucratic apparatus to those who fill out the proper requisition forms and are deemed to have genuine need of what they request. New Hainan is a member of the Outer Systems Alliance, which it joined shortly after its independence from the UIC. New Hainan is less authoritarian than its neighbouring Marxist states, allowing limited freedom of assembly, movement, and worship.
