the public baths
The public baths, now ruined, are the second largest single building in Malfa—another early public works project, built by the Maveren for the health of their thralls. As Malfa grew, a growing proportion of the population were no longer thralls of the Maveren, who therefore lost interest in being nice to the riffraff. The baths were allowed to fall into ruin. Now the baths are the kind of place people dare each other to go after dark. Maybe that’s not a good idea, but then, so many people dare each other to spend the night there that actual nightdwellers might not bother themselves.
