The Republic of Imperial Mars

Structure

The Executive The Judicial The Legislative
The Royal Family of Clan Skyburner The Imperial Court The Imperial Martian Congress
The Skyburner Clan occupies the executive branch of government. While only members of the Clan can hold the title of Malik, heirs are voted into power. The Imperial Court is the highest judicial body within the Republic. It is occupied by a council of 22 Judicators appointed by the Clan and approved by Congress. Otherwise, each Emirate in the system has its own Imperial Court below this one. The Imperial Congress is made up of the Red Room, composed of senators from planets, and the White Room, composed of representatives from Sectors.

There are 9 planetary bodies within the Republic, nine Emirates each ruled by an Emir from the ruling power of the world. The 4th Emirate, Mars, is both an Emirate and the seat of power for the entire Republic and thus is technically counted among their number. The 1st Emirate, Mercury, was hallowed out and turned into a massive defense machine and thus has no seat at the table, the same was true for the 2nd Emirate, Venus, which is a prison colony turned Emirate again.
The 3rd Emirate is Earth which has been deemed holy land by The Imperium of Miðgarðr and is technically not under the authority of the Republic, also forefitting its seat at the table. The 7th Emirate, Uranus, was destroyed long ago, all that remains in a massive asteroid belt that now orbits the star system itself, creating a natural barrier between Saturn and the rest of the system. It has no Emir but holds considerable seats in the Red Room.
The 9th Emirate, Pluto, is a communications hub, massive stations exist solely to facilitate the transfer of information for organizations, governments, and other entities and are a critical component of interstellar communication. It alone manages the massive in-flow and out-flow of information for the entire system, thus lacking a seat at the table. Outside of the Mars Emirate, there are x other Emirates that all act as their government under the authority of Mars.
  1. The Emirate of Venusian Caliphate (VENUS)
  2. The Emirate of Jovian Principality (JUPITER)
  3. The Emirate of Saturnian Expanse (SATURN)
  4. The Emirate of Neptunia (NEPTUNE)
The Four Emirs hold seats on the Malik's Small Council.

Military

Each Emirate within the Republic maintains its own standing Honor Guard (known as the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th Armies). Each Army was under the command of a Taisho who answered to the Emir of their Emirate. The Taishos were also subservient to the Shogun, who had authority over all military forces within the entire Republic. The Shogun answered to the Malik. The Republic also operated a Navy Fleet that was also under the authority of the Shogun but was separated into a War Fleet and an Escort & Patrol Fleet. The War Fleet was smaller and focused on hunting pirates and threats to the Republic. The Escort and Patrol Fleet was larger and was primarily responsible for patrolling the Republic and escorting Emirate officials and nobility. The Emirates all maintain their own Royal Guard to protect the Emir and their household, ensuring the security of the Emirate. The Malik also possess a Royal Guard for the same reason.

Currency
  • System-Wide Currency: The Imperial Martian Dok (IMD) is the primary currency of both the capital planet Mars and the entire system, serving as the reserve currency. The Dok is a Physical Assets Backing Currency (PABC). This ingenious system revolves around the valuation of specific physical assets, each deemed to hold a discernible worth in Dok. These assets form the very essence of commerce within the system. When any transaction transpires, the exchange of Hosar signifies not just a transfer of abstract numbers, but a tangible, predetermined quantity of physical assets.
Legislative Body
The Legislative Body of the Republic is the Imperial Martian Congress, composed of the Red Room and the White Room. The Red Room is the chamber that houses Senators sent from planets. Each Emirate sends 3 Senators (12) + 1 Senator from Earth. Though Earth was annexed by The Imperium of Miðgarðr as Holy Land and is legally not under Republic authority, they are granted one Senator as an honorary position. If a tie is ever struck between all other Senators, the Earth Senator is allowed to vote to break the tie.
The idea of a Sector (SEC) is a spatial division within a star system delineated by FTL access lanes, determining areas of space travel and governing. Some sectors host planetoids, small moon-like celestial bodies, artificial worlds, colonies, space stations, and any other man-made location where people reside. Not all Sectors have people, but Sectors that do are granted Representatives in the White Room of Congress. The amount of Reps per Sector is based on population. For the Congress to function, the majority of the White Room and only 1/2 of the Red Room need to pass a law.
Judicial Body
  • The Imperial Court: The IC is the highest judicial body within the Republic and holds supreme authority on any ruling made previously from a lower court. The IC is the only court that can put the Malik on trial.
  • The Supreme Emirate Courts: Each of the four Emirates has a Supreme Court (SC) that can only be overruled by the IC, but otherwise has the final say on any legal rulings about their specific world and people. Only a Supreme Court can put an Emir on trial.
  • The Greater Republic Courts (GPC): The GPC are judicial institution with authority specific to interplanetary cases. They also, by default, handle all cases about the various Sectors of the Republic.
IC Judicators are appointed by the Malik and confirmed by Congress. Judicators for the Supreme Courts are appointed by the Emirs and confirmed by their respective Emirate Congress. The GPC Judicators are appointed by Congress, though only the White Room needs to pass the appointments, and confirmed by the Malik and their Small Council.
Executive Body
The Skyburner Clan occupies the EXECUTIVE office, and while only an Heir can be a Malik, Heirs are appointed by the previous Malik as the Malik's Heir. Both Rooms of Congress can both Appoint an Heir as well and the Imperial Court is also allowed to appoint an Heir. Thus, when a Malik dies, there can be a potential of four candidates for the throne. The entire Republic votes on them and whichever Heir secures victory will be confirmed into the Imperial Office of the Malik. A Malik rules until one of the following happens.
  1. They die.
  2. They yield the throne and appoint an Heir.
  3. The Imperial Court removes them via a Formal Complaint with an investigation. Only the Emirs can raise a formal complaint with the Imperial Court.
Otherwise, a Malik rules for life.

Bound by Blood and in Marriage

The Pyt Clan supported the Skyburners in their rule of Mars on the marriage of a Pyt Princess to a Skyburner Prince. With the significant military might of Neptune, the Skyburners of Mars brought the rest of the system back into submission.
