I've had two competing ideas so far:
one is "the Power city"
mono-party communist china. becomes important part of the scalatoran society - the backbone that they're not crazy about. but they need its 'oil'.
one is "fast + fashion"
i think they'd be sort of out of the game. what purpose does that thaig serve to the greater world. other than offering culture? but culture should be Casadoro's thing. Strike this.
smaller others in falco (like tediore)
inexpensive shipbuilders in Falco.
Every thaig has them. they work for the commission.
Falco's police are fascists. but fascists with a smile. There Is No War in Ba Sing Se. "Judi"
it's mostly companies if you want defense beyond the commission's polizia.
shroomfarming in the lower parts of the thaig
also grapes, tomatoes, hops, peas, grown along the cliffsides.

Slagnesium is used as fuel in certain cases. so it can be used in civic applications too. What is power necessary for in this world? lights (individual). Elevators. water? cooking.
there are "power lines" of the magic-conducting metal that allow the operation of rune devices. how do power plants work then? magicians doing rituals? slagnesium driving something?
OR there are also crystals which work like magic batteries. can power things (can they be charged by slag? or only magic)
individual vendors. shops like Gilmore's.
'handyman' shops (called guyvers, still) who create individual inventions and fix stuff.
generate a few shops - maybe 1 per settlement.
