A true monopoly. go a bit musky - tesla, boring, spaceX.   There are independents who do what they do. exclusively single-ship companies because United gobbles up anything larger.

    Trading Goods

    Galloway
    - amazon. control the movement of goods. to the point where they buy goods from one thaig, transport it to another, and sell it there, instead of simply being deliverers of goods you bought. Heavily invested in the Casadoro Commission. have recently eclipsed the need for security, much to the grumbling of Centuri.

    is a good name for one. means "Treasure"   <
    Sky Mall
    > Essentially a travelling mall. you go onto the ship and visit shops. Actually a fleet of ships that travel together. (fucking sky mall, man) ("Desert Sky" mall?)  
    Arma Traders
    Weapon Traders. sell weapons from artisans in other thaigs. allow you to give 'previews' to players, allowing them to hear about cities before they visit them.   Lots of individual trading ships. "TS <Shipname>" travelling from thaig to thaig, buying builk goods/cargo and selling them at other places. "T.S. stands for 'trading ship'"   (4/4 or 5)

    Biggest energy harvester. huge ships with big antennae that fly through clouds and harvest the charge for AA Crystal charging.

    fly through clouds and harvest energy.

    Smaller ships. they drag big wire nets through clouds to charge crystals. their batteries are shaped like clouds (carved smooth)

    - work Security. Premium. Great warships. escort your ships or give the most important folks rides. professional. expensive. red banner, pentagonshapes. formidable, premium
     
    Scooters Defense Services
    - look unprofessional. even fish while escoriting you. one guy with a hunting bird. mordecai vibes. "scooter" in the name maybe. hillbillies. MAJORLY skilled - each with a personalized gun or fighting style. Smaller, can place wherever the players are.  
    Ballista Jacks
    - one with more crews than ships. their guards ride on YOUR ship and try to defend it. roll-out cannons and stuff like that. secretly, they plan to grab your stuff and escape if they lose against an attacker. cheap.
  • plot/history. they managed to 'salvage' a premium ship. Undercut centuri on a prisoner transport. the prisoners broke out and took the ship. makes for an interesting post-prison pirate crew.
  • Tuffo Caravans
    A bunch of swift, gunship that fly above/below and swoop in to ambush attacking ships/pirates.  
    Vinnies Muscle
    kind of thuggish. they put some guys on your ship and are a bit extortionny.
  • scene in which a security company comes upon a big rock that's worth a lot to haulers. haulers show up and the security company says it's clamed the rock they cant haul it back, but they can pretty well fight off anyone who wants it. so they sell it. prospecting.

    Mining

    surface mining companies use ships best-suited for vertical travel, expanding enough to reach surface then haul a ton of slag back up to the clouds. united buys from all of them. so united can afford with any one getting destroyed. they'd just sweep in and take over. So they don't really help in defense.  
    Ramona Mining Company
    - one that doesn't industrialize. only use hammers. they stabilize the thaig with balloons while they mine. practiced and traditional in their methods. this takes longer. get more of the non-aether metals. Crews ococasionally ride-along on hauling ships to mine them mid-haul. Pretty big organization. but should feel traditional throughout. maybe even italianify it a bit more. Maybe Ramona Fiori is the inventor of the mining hammer.  
    Aetherworks
    techy. use mechanized mining device. fast crews. climb on, mine ore, get out. let the remaining thaig fall. because their equipment damages the thaigs, they're not really compatible with landhaulers.  
    Diavolo Mining
    They manage the Devil's Den Mine (surface metals)  
    Garden Spring Mining Co
    the folks at the mine run the ship. the guys hauling the ships are advocating and defending the hauls on their way to sale.

    - Cultivate the growths/foliage on bergs they haul. lot of orcs and maybe elven druids too.

    have a lot of guns for people who fish. because other fishing companies will swipe their hauls. Have a very Deadliest Catch vibe to them.

    "Salvage"

    they 'salvage' ships. not many visible guns, but many hidden. big harpoon under ship that they claim is for grabbing and anchoring on the ground.

    have a seat on the Casadoro Comission. Get away with a lot. some of the ships they salvage aren't crashed yet.

    men (30) get 2.44 shares each
    officers (2) get 3.6 shares each
    1st mate gets 4.8 shares each
    that's 41 units.
      100/qty-of-units = 2.44 shares per unit
      5 bosses would get 7-10 shares each (35-50 shares) and 3-4 consiglieres would get 2-3 each (9 shares). they get this from EACH ship in the company. so a single ship's haul would take the hundred shares of the crew and pay them out with the 50ish shares of the bosses. (so a single share comes out to be about .67% of the haul in the frigate example).

    The Scalatore     Where would a chopshop be? Porto for sure. maybe another one in San Salvo? casadoro would probably have a lot of security.   ships should ahve some kind of pulley/swing-set stirrup thing that lets you descend to ground.   there could be locations on the surface where ships land and do things like hideout or chopshop or whatever. dangerous because of undead, but it would make sense in secret.  
      "guilds" are local to thaigs. essentially a grouping of independent artisans that represent the interests as a larger enterprise would be able to. necessary to stand ground against companies.   "Enterprise" Industries - enterprise are ALWAYS a 'small business' - never a 'company' Copy/paste enterprise section into individual settlements. that enterprise needs to take on the vibe of that settlement. This page will keep only names and VERY short descriptions.

  • Every thaig has them. they work for the commission.
  • it's mostly companies if you want defense beyond the commission's polizia.

  • in some places (which?) shroomfarming in the lower parts of the thaig
  • Casadoro has proper flat-crops being farmed on the central sea skyfarms.
  • also grapes, tomatoes, hops, peas, grown along the cliffsides.

  • more of that in Casadoro, with the whole "city of tomorrow" vibe. in other cities you find more 'handyman' shops (called guyvers, still) who create individual inventions and fix stuff.
