Avernian Warlord

An Avernian warlord, locally just referred to as a warlord, is a title given to the leaders of Avernus' various unaligned warbands, which are uninvolved or hostile to the factions of the eternal Blood War.
Due to the broad nature of the title, the motivations, methods, and actions of Avernian warlords vary dramatically. Some, such as the tulgar Algoran, build small fiefdoms of creatures not native to Avernus, while others, like the warlord Bitter Breath, attract devils uncontended with the current state of Hell or Avernus and strike back against the Blood Legions.
Depending on the political climate of Hell, warlords are at times ignored, hunted, or allied by the Archduke of Avernus and other archdevils. While there are few hard and fast rules that define a warlord, there is one universal truth. Only the strongest, craftiest, or most ruthless warlords survive for more than a few years.
