Algoran

Algoran

Algoran was a tulgari Avernian warlord that was active in the late 15th century. Based out of an arena that shared his name, Algoran and his warband, the Soul Collectors, amused themselves by capturing creatures for bloodsport, offering gifts of money or magical items to any adventurers in Avernus that dared to test their mettle.   He was killed by Arcus Miursa of the Lost Star Detectives in an attempt to get revenge for the Detectives freeing the imprisoned ki-rin Enki.

History

At some point prior to the late 1490's, Algoran and a band of Tulgari traveled to Avernus and established a base in a long-abandoned arena. The tribe soon established themselves as a warband to be taken seriously, and the games they hosted in the arena drew travelers from all over Hell, devils and mortals alike.   In mid-1497, Algoran joined an alliance of warlords that included Bitter Breath's Marauders and Kolasiah's Lost Golgari in a vengeance pact to hunt Smiler the Defiler. Their alliance was joined by the Lost Star Detectives, a group of adventurers looking to end the Damnation of Elturel and who offered to help in exchange for a Nirvanan cogbox in Algoran's possession. However, the Detectives failed to arrive at the Bloody Crescent at the agreed upon time, causing Bitter Breath and Kolasiah to retreat, their forces damaged.   Algoran was less concerned with such matters and was open to having the Detectives participate in his arena, which the group did to free the captured githzerai Armag. After the Detectives left, Algoran was contacted by the archdevil Gargauth, who offered to sponsor his arena with few strings attached, which Algoran agreed to. When the Detectives returned, Gargauth requested a particularly difficult dungeon crawl be created, which the group passed and earned a Nirvanan cogbox. However, before leaving the Detectives broke the ki-rin Enki out of his cell, enraging Algoran.   Algoran, Bitter Breath, and Kolasiah then agreed to recreate their vengeance pact, but this time to turn their hatred towards the Lost Star Detectives. In early 1498, the three warlords confronted the Detectives while they were on their way to retrieve the Sword of Zariel. Their ambush was a dismal failure, and Alogran was killed by Arcus Miursa, forcing the other warlords to flee.
