Lenore Marsk

Lenore Marsk (a.k.a. The Golden Boar)

Lenore Marsk is a well-regarded adventurer based out of Neverwinter and the founder and leader of the Golden Boar Adventuring Company. She is married to Callum Nailsmith, the founder of the Neveren Shepards.

History

Lenore Marsk was born in Yartar in 1462 to barge builders. Though she had a well-provided childhood, Lenore was never particularly close with her parents. In 1480, at the age of 18, Lenore left Yartar to strike out as an adventurer. Over the next two years, Lenore would meet and befriend the elf rogue Elara, half-elf ranger Alistair, and gnome wizard Gandrel, and the four of them would formally become the Golden Boar Adventuring Company in 1482 with Lenore as their leader.   By 1485, Lenore and the Boars purchased a guild hall in Neverwinter to serve as their headquarters.   In 1488, the Golden Boars took out a contract from Neveren merchants to explore an abandoned ruin in the @woodthat was occupied by bandits. While there, the adventurers discovered the 22-year-old Callun Nailsmith, a young carpenter who was captured by those bandits while searching the woods for ironbark. Lenore freed Callum and helped him find the ironbark he was looking for, which he then used to create an ironbark glaive as a gift of thanks. Lenore, unexpectedly touched, gave Callum her old glaive and offered to train him in using it.   Over the next few years, Callum's regular training sessions with Lenore became something more and the two began a courtship. Though Lenore spent about three months out of the year not in Neverwinter, her frequent absences did not deter Callum, and the two of them forged a steady and stable relationship and friendship.   In 1492, Lenore and the Golden Boars answered Neverwinter's call for adventurers and mercenaries to fight in the Great Dragon War. The Boars saw extended combat in both the Battle of Hardbuckler and the Battle at the Well of Dragons. During the latter battle, Lenore played a pivotal role in taking down a Blue Dragon, taking its skull as a trophy.   Upon returning to Neverwinter at the end of 1492, Callum met Lenore on one knee with a ring and ask her to marry him. In her surprise, she dropped the dragon skull, cracking it, and she accepted instantly.   In 1493, Lenore did not join the Neveren assembled forces that participated in the Decker Coup, and while she did caution Callum against joining, she couldn't convince her husband, who felt like he missed out on the glory of the Great Dragon War, from attending. She comforted Callum when he came home distraught.   In 1494, Lenore opened up her guildhall to the newly-formed Neveren Shepards, and the Boars and Shepards often went on adventures together when appropriate.   In late 1497, the Lenore and the Golden Boars departed for Clearhallow, on the far side of the High Forest, with the goal of dispelling the Curse of Clearhallow. However, while the company did find the cause of the curse, a magical mind-altering crystal touched by the god Cyric, each of the four members instead fell victim to the crystal becoming little more than zombie-like guardians of the crystal as part of the Cult of Cyric.   However, whether through a quirk of fate, magic, or the bond between Lenore and her husband, when Lenore touched the dark crystal, her soul was ejected from her body, binding itself to Callum. Though Lenore was unable to speak, emote, or even register new information, this soul apparition was able to follow Callum's verbal and mental commands, and clued in Callum to the fact that something went horribly wrong, though Callum assumed Lenore had died.   Lenore and the Golden Boar's unwilling cult membership continued until Ches of 1498, when the crystal binding the company was shattered by the Unstompables, an adventuring party composed of Callum, fellow Neveren Shepard and friend of Lenore Robyn Goodfellow, Ravs Cullger, and Lemmikki Karkkonen.   After being rescued, Lenore and the Boars returned to Neverwinter, where she and Callum hosted Lemmikki for a time as she got her bearings in the new city.

Physical Description

Facial Features

As a result of years of fighting, Lenore's face is quite scarred, and her nose is crooked from an improper setting years ago. Her eaars are also slightly swollen from being hit too many times in the side.

Identifying Characteristics

Lenore's nickname, "the Golden Boar," comes from her extremely distinctive bright blond hair and scarred face, which to many is off-putting at first glance.

Mental characteristics

Morality & Philosophy

Lenore is blut with her beliefs, hard-headed when she thinks she is right, and not afraid to start a fight, especially if she believes she is standing up against evil or injustice.

Social

Contacts & Relations

Lenore is a good friend of the pixie Robyn Goodfellow, but their relationship to Lenore is different from their relationship to Callum, their best friend. Lenore is more stern than Callum and less likely to take a prank well. This frightening demeanor keep Robyn on their best behavior around Lenore, and Callum recieves the bulk of Robyn's jokes and pranks.

Family Ties

Lenore loves Callum dearly, though she is much more reserved in showing it than Callum is, especially in public. The two have an implicit trust in one another that can hardly ever be shaken.   While Lenore has visited her family in Yartar since she left home, including introducing them to Callum, she keeps in infrequent contact with them.   Though Callum and Lenore have talked about children, neither of them wish to commit to any while they're still adventuring.
