Maccath the Crimson, born simply Maccath, is a tiefling sorcerer in the Arcane Brotherhood and a renowned dracologist.
History
In 1491, Maccath began investigating there whereabouts of the white dragon Arauthator in order to figure out the location of the objects he had stolen from the Arcane Brotherhood's Host Tower in Luskan. She discovered his lair on Oyaviggaton, in the Sea of Moving Ice, but was captured by the dragon and forced to translate the various magical documents he had stolen. Maccath agreed, figuring this to be an ideal opportunity to study a white dragon in person. In mid-1492, Maccath was rescued by the Breadwinners, who were dispatched by the Council of Waterdeep to find her. The Breadwinners were in pursuit of the Draakhorn, and Maccath was the most likely person to know where it is. Maccath did not know where the Draakhorn was, but after Arauthator was killed, all of Maccath's notes and magical items were loaded onto the boat and returned to Luskan, where she continued her research into finding the Draakhorn's location. Near the end of 1492, the Arcane Brotherhood opted to join the Council of Waterdeep to stop the Cult of the Dragon. Maccath was dispatched as their representative to the council. Maccath also participated in the Breadwinners's mission to prevent the rise of Tiamat during the Battle at the Well of Dragons, which she survived without incident.
