Plagueshield Point
Plagueshield Point is a drow citadel that was built around a magical geode that had been accidentally teleported into Avernus, where it now serves as a prison for its former inhabitants and various demons.
Purpose / Function
Though once a drow fortress, Plagueshield Point is today a prison. The magical geode the fortress is built around holds a pocket dimension for each facet of the geode there is, allowing for the containment of a variety of demons and other creatures the archduke of Avernus wants sealed away for one reason or another.
Alterations
As a result of its teleportation, the citadel has been split in two, with the exterior of the building placed on the surface of Avernus, while the interior is underneath the River Styx. While walking through one of the entranceways on the surface will teleport and individual into the interior, attempting to leave without the use of magic or a way to protect oneself will result in the would-be escapee being exposed to the waters of the Styx, further enhancing the prison's use.
This bisected existence is not flawless, however, and at numerous points in the citadel Stygian waters leaks in, where it is then drained out of the bottom.
History
In 1497, Plagueshield Point was visited by the Lost Star Detectives, when the group of adventurers accidentally entered the prison after stumbling across the prison's exterior on the surface. To escape, the Detectives killed the infernal prison guards, freeing the drow laborers, though those same drow rejected the call of Katya Sinaran to worship Kiaransalee over Llolth. The Detectives also killed the bone devil prison warden, taking from him a water elemental summoning cup that allowed them to escape, and freeing an imprisoned yochlol of Llolth, that led the freed drow away as well.
