Protanther

Protanther

Protanther is one of the oldest gold dragons in existence, having once served as King of Justice. In 1492, Protanther served as the head of the Metallic Dragon Council.

History

Protanther's birth year is unknown, but a dragon of his age must be over 1,200 years old.   During his lifespan, Protanther served as King of Justice, though he willingly chose to forfeit the title after some time.   In 1492, Protanther served as the head of the Metallic Dragon Council, which had reformed to deal with the imminent threat of Tiamat's arrival on the Prime Material Plane, due to the actions of the reformed Cult of the Dragon.   Protanther served as the greatest obstacle to getting the Metallic Dragon Council to join forces with the Council of Waterdeep. He viewed most humanoids as too short-lived to have enough wisdom to act responsibly. However, the Breadwinners not only convinced him of their worth in battle but also pledged to make King Melandrach publicly apologize for the Dracorage Mythal. Prontanther was not enthusiastic, but did acquiesce to the rest of the council and voted to aid the humanoids.   Following the Battle at the Well of Dragons, Protanther took it upon himself to safeguard to Draakhorn, insisting that the Metallic Dragon Council be given it, considering that the only piece of the Armor of Tiamat that was turned over was the Gauntlet of the Black Dragon.

Morality & Philosophy

Protanther has a general distrust for most humanoid races. He believed that most humanoids, especially humans , had gained far too much power too quickly and lacked the lifespan necessary to gain the wisdom on how to use their power. In addition, Protanther viewed the "corrupted" humanoid races, such as yuan-ti and tieflings, as being indicative of humankind's inability to think ahead. Protanther did not fault humans for this, but it did color his interactions with them.   This leniency did not extend to elves. Protanther still blamed elves for the devastating Dracorage Mythal, believing that such a long-lived species should know better.
