Throughout the waning decade of the 25th century, the Qabalis Omrini sect gained power in Califersa's colony Administration, culminating in a takeover in 2500 as the First Interstellar War got underway. Assessed by the Nenque Alliance for resources to build, equip and crew armed flow-pressure ships to prosecute that conflict, Califersa repudiated its Nenque Alliance status in 2502.
As Qabalis Omrini influence steadily increased, Califersa's Administration included increasing numbers of Believers until without official action, the sect became the dominant and de facto state religion of the Colony. This allowed the sect access to, and control of, colonial resources, and touched off an extensive missionary program that figured strongly in the Samarian Crusade. With the Selection of 2582, the Omrini lost their Administrative Majority, leading to the repudiation of the Samarian Crusade (see Crusade of Samaria/Samarian Crusade). The Constitutional Reform of 2584 after the collapse of the Samarian Crusade depoliticized the Qabalis Omrini religion on Califersa and greatly reduced its influence.
