The Infernus Empire

The Infernus Empire is a collection of three cities and a number of towns rules over by Lord Azerath and Lady Ariesrelle and their army devils. The cities of Fireblight and Nightmere are own their own island off the coast of Oros, whereas Ashmourn is on the mainland.
The Infernus Empire did extend a few more miles inland but their armies were unable to hold onto the land.

History

During The Scouring, Azerath and Ariesrelle led the devil armies of The Pyreburner over the east side of Oros, south of the Death Reach Mountains.
At the end of the Scouring, instead of returning to The Nine Hells with most of the Devils, Azerath and Ariesrelle decided to forge a kingdom of their own. They opened their own gates to hell in what would become Fireblight and Nightmere.
It took only a few days for The Lord of Lies to realised what Azerath and Ariesrelle were doing before sealing over their gates. But in those few day a small army of devils arrived on the material plane.
The war against the survivors of Oros lasted 12 years, mostly small skirmishes and battles. At the end of the 12 years saw the formation of The Kingdoms of Exalos and through a fear of mutual destruction the Infernus Empire declared peace, becoming one of the 'Kingdoms' itself.

Demography and Population

While most of Oros has a high population of Humans, the human population of the Infernus Empire has decreased over the past 300 years. Many humans left, not wanting to be under the rule of devils. While many were turned into Tieflings. In fact, about one-third of the Empire are Tieflings.

Military

The military of the Infernus Empire can be divided into two divisions.
The first is the devils. Most of these came through to the material plane during the founding of the empire. Though there have been a few that have been summoned from The Nine Hells over the past 300 years.
The second division is the humanoids. These are the ones that have proven their loyalty to the empire, often by making a deal with Lord Azerath or Lady Ariesrelle. This division is mostly Tiefling, either by birth or were transformed as part of enlisting.

Technological Level

The Infernus Empire has a medieval level of technology and science. Any inventions or scientific advancements are crushed by the military as a way of keeping control over the population.

Religion

The only entities that the population are allowed to worship are Lord Azerath, Lady Ariesrelle, The Lord of Lies, and the Arch-Devils of The Nine Hells. Though in reality, many of the population secretly worship other Deities.

Foreign Relations

The Infernus Empire keeps themselves isolated from other nations, with the exception of the ports of Fireblight where trade with other countries and groups occur.
