The City of Thornhelm is unique in the fact that it's central location within the plains that breaks natural geographical barriers of the Nordrok mountains to south from Albus mountain range to the north makes a central hub of not only trade and commerce between eastern and the more isolated western Kortarra, but also as a significant tactical choke point militarily speaking. In essence, Thornhelm is the gateway between Eastern and Western Kortarra, and whoever controls it has great sway over the day to day lives over half the continent, with the ability to cut off supplies or to prevent crucial military movements as they see fit.
As a center of Kortarran commerce, one can usually find most anything they seek within Thornhelm, be it supplies, weapons and armor or even magical trinkets.
In addition to trade and commerce, a notable portion of the economy of Thornhelm is centered around the many coal mines found within its surrounding lands, nestled within the respective bases of the mountains to the north and south.
The final cornerstone in Thornhelm's economy and draw of tourism comes from its coliseum, the Cor Honoris Maxima. Here, at three heart of the city the Arena plays host to a number of games and shows ranging from competitive horse races, to exotic animal circus’, even to gladiatorial combat. While not as extravagant as the gladiator sport of Vantrika, the arena of Thornhelm boasts itself as being more "civilized" employing only trained and paid volunteers as combatants rather than the slaves the Vantri force in their games. In addition, combat is strictly non-lethal in nature and purely for sport, though rumors do circulate of a secret underground illegal gladiatorial circuit in which actual blood is spilt and lives are lost in the name of entertainment.

Industry & Trade

A central hub for trade in Kortarra, commerce here is diverse and booming. All trade from Central and Western Kortarra to Eastern Kortarra and vice versa passes through this one city.
Additionally, Thornhelm does have a thriving industry of its own in the form of a number of very productive coal mines within its territory.

Guilds and Factions

Rebellion Status

Currently under the control of the military, but the Bastards have a strong interest in Tornhelm. The Count is not pleased with the increased military activity in his city and often voices his displeasure with their overstepping of their bounds. He has been approached by representatives of The Bastard Rebellion in efforts to gain his support, but has yet to commit to their cause, finding them to be a little erratic in their methods.

Arcanum Status

The Arcanum Unifica has limited presence in Thornhelm. A single residence-sized outpost in Kingdom's Gate with less than ten Venators residing there full time.

Sacrament Status

The Order of the Sacrament has an outpost here, about two dozen personnel including 6 Inquisitors and their Acolytes.
