Order of the White Rose

The Order of the White Rose is a knightly order from Ammand, serving as the city's peacekeepers and protector of the Sovereign of Ader. It was established following The Second Sun and was originally subservient to the Emperor of Ader. While the order is considered a part of the Aderian Royal Army, it is not sworn in, and considered as such purely due to its service to the Sovereign of Ader.

Public Agenda

The order's main agenda is the presevation of orderly society in the city of Ammand, regardless of what person or organiztion rules over it. It might even seem at certain time that the organization serve the citizenry rather than the nobility or the clergy, which is true to some extent.   While nobles and crowned rulers are viewed by the organization as pillars of orderly society, they are no masters of the order by any means and are at risk of being deposed by it should they overly abuse the common folk. The best known example for that mindset was Alabaster Knights opening the gates of Ammand to Kairoz the Andorian and his armies in order to end the Battle of Ammand.

History

The Order of the White Rose was officialy founded after it took over the city of Ammand in 103. Prior to the Andorian Church's recognition, the order was an independent group of former soldiers and venatores who patrolled across the Aderian Bank in hopes of restoring order to small towns and villeges.   In 101 the group arrived to Ammand, still devastated by warring houses and criminal gangs. The order took control of the city's gate and began pushing other militant parties further inward, trapping them in the city, and slowly picking them off. During that time they would also patrol the streets under their control to ensure order is kept, a duty later delegated to the city guard. Most citizens consequently admired the order's members, refering to them as 'sir' and 'mam', even though barely any of them have ever been knighted.   By the year 103, the city was completely under the control of the order, which struggled under the myriad of issues assosiated with ruling over a large city. The arch priest of the Andorian Church suggested the knights should hand over control the city to the church, with the exception of the Ammand Keep, which would stay under the order's control. While not completely trusting the Church, the order was primarily comprised of former soldiers and common citizens who lacked management skills; thus they chose to accept the offer, under the added condition that once a suitable ruler is found, the church will relenquish control of the city in favor of the ruler.
Second Empire of Ader
In the year 391, Sandor Amarell attempts to unite the various political figures and noble houses in the city under his banner; he additionally approaches the order, by then a fully sanctioned organiztion tasked with the city safety and defenses. Despite the church's initial resistance, the order sign a contract with Amarell; in return for their help, they shall retain their position and holdings, and a certain amount of seized properties and assets. By the spring of the same year, the entire city and the Aderian Bank were both under the complete control of House Amarell and it's allies.   In 401, following the The War of Lords, a new subsidiary order was founded, called the Lexitar Order. Its members, dubbed Lexitars, are to serve directly under the would be Emperor of Ader, secretly maintaining the law and order in the entire nation.

Culture

Unlike the Order of the Vermilion Orchid or the Andorian Inquisition's Venatores, Knights of the White Rose are not members of the Andorian Church, and their vows are solely to the city of Ammand, it's denizens, and the Sovereign of Ader.   While most of the members are considered patriotic in mind, and the majority of the order being former Aderian Military members, they view the serving of the current noble ruler as a key pillar of the area's stability, making it the organization core concern.

Assets

The most important asset of the order is Ammand Keep, a massive citadel in the middle of the city given to the order to conduct their operations during the Days of Reckoning. While the Aderian Royal Army also has its central command in the structure, and the keep itself being considered a holy site, it is in the sole possession of the Order of the White Rose.   The order also owns a few castles and their surrounding lands, mostly around the Aderian Bank. Those are usually leased to the ARA or other forces that operate under the Kadian Military Cooperation Services.
