Royal House of Bolder

The House of Bolder is the royal house of the Kingdom of Cobal. Established by the first King of Cobal, Millard the Bold, in 64 BF the House ruled Cobal for 200 years. With the death of Willard III the White at the age of 105 and with no heirs, born or designated, the succession was put aside and the Regency was instituted. For 97 years, the Regents have ruled Cobal in the name of a King that has never been crowned.   This transition has been peaceful, and the country has prospered since the Regency was established, but there are still many powerful and influential people within the Kingdom of Cobal that look to restore the House of Bolder to the Throne at Jemptal.   The royal lineage of Bolder ended with Willard III's death. The senior member of the House at that time was Willard's great-great-grand nephew Bollson Bolder, a descendant of King Dillard the Golden's second son, Dillard the Younger. Bollson was four generations removed from the throne by the time Willard died in 136 AF, and there was great concern that contending claims to the crown might drive the Kingdom into civil war. The Regency avoided this potential crisis, but never resolved the succession question.   The current senior claimant to the Throne of Cobal is Will Bolder , the Knight Commander of Dragoons in the Ward of Jemptal. His current residence is in the Town of Blackpool on the Caldar River, but he spends most of his days in the field training his regiments.

Structure

There is little actual organization to the House of Bolder.  The living claimant to the Throne is Will Bolder, as the oldest descendant of King Dillard the Golden who died 144 years ago.  Will is the eighth generation removed from the throne, and has no actual ambitions towards being King.

History

Since the reign of Millard the Bold, Kings of Cobal have always had associated epithets attached to their regal names.  Of the eight kings of the Bolder Dynasty, none had the title "the Great".  Several kings chose their own epithet, while others had it chosen for them.
