The Thraxan Empire
The greatest of human might on Timor
The Thraxan Empire spans Bandoor, as well as several islands around it. It was the product of years of conquest, and is the most dominant seat of human power in Timor. The empire was brought together through conquest an diplomacy, with Emperor Nero Thrax I negotiating his absolute rule over the other human Lords, and violently conquering those that refused.
The result has been a 100 year empire which has retained an iron grip on the continent since its inception.
The empire is currently led by Emperor Nero Thrax II, and Empress Elofer Thrax.
Structure
The empire is vast, and divided into several states. Each state is ruled by a Prefect, who generally rule from a city and have several dukes and duchesses under their control.
Ultimately, all are ruled by the Emperor.
Ultimately, all are ruled by the Emperor.
Public Agenda
The prevalent claim made by the empire is that it promotes order and unity above all else. Unrest is uncommon, although many would argue that this is secondary to fear rather than anything else.
Since their beginning, the Thrax family have claimed that their ultimate goal is to bring humanity together under one banner in an effort to bring them level with the elves, dwarves and dragonborn who have been around for much longer.

Assets
The empire spans such an area that their resources are vast. Their troops and particularly their cavalry are reknowned for their skill in battle, their loyalty and their discipline. They also have multiple ports and a formidable navy allowing for trade routes with all other nations.
Their farms and forests are abundant, and Bandoori craftsmen are the best in the world. The empire is known for its exportation of furniture and woodwork, and it's builders help to create settlements the world over. The imperial cities are a sight to behold - massive stone marvels. The greatest of these is High Bastion, on the banks of River Nemi.

History
The Rise of the Thraxan Empire and The Surdonian War form the bulk of the early history of the Thraxan Empire.
Nero Thrax I was one of the Bandoori lords, ruling from a small settlement, called Nemi Port at the time (now High Bastion). While most were contented with their lot, able to live comfortably, Nero looked over the ocean to Alvas and longed for a human empire to rise to their brilliance.
The elves, somehow appearing to predict this, began sending envoys to Bandoor to talk to the young king, and cultivate this desire for greatness. He began initially by making peaceful strides into the nearby settlements, and in this way was able to bring other lords into the fold. All this was under the careful tutelage of the high elves. This was, until, 1720, where he was rebuffed and humiliated in front of the gathered court of Lord Kelvin Lawrence, the mightiest Lord in Northern Bandoor. As Lawrence's people laughed at him, he turned and left the court, his name becoming a joke to all who were present to witness the event. He arrived three weeks later with an army and not only took the city - but executed Lawrence and raised it to the ground. After this, Nero Thrax did not take no as an answer, the choice to the other Lords (who were not well versed in large scale combat), was to join the fold or be crushed under the boot of Nero Thrax. Thrax rampaged across the continent in this way for the next thirty years. While many managed to put up some conflict - most were beaten eventually. The elves never took a direct military interest in the conflict, but they did supply aid and advice. When the emperor reached Surdo, however, he met much more fierce resistance. Surdo was a harsh but beautiful and dangerously hot desert land ruled by King Hahtan Amol, and they did not give up their land lightly. The imperial troops were tired from years of war, and struggled with the harsh desert conditions. The resultant conflict dragged on for six more years ending in a stalemate which halted the expansion of the empire. As the elves looked to be preparing to join the war on the side of Nero Thrax, and the elves ancient enemies, the Dragonborn looked to be preparing to join the war on the side of the Surdonians, Timor prepared for world war. At that time, King Gredan Sampala joined the war on the side of the Surdonians, knowing that he would be next to have to defend his land if they lost. Knowing that conquering the peninsula would take even longer, owing to Gredan's fresh troops and tactical positioning, the war ended. The Dragonborn evacuated the Surdonians who had lost most of their land to the empire, and brought them to Harad, where they established The Haradi Republic. This final six years of the conquest of Bandoor was known afterwards as The Surdonian War. In the modern day, the empire continues to thrive. Nero Thrax II, the great grandson of the conqueror, is well liked and rules with strength and kindness. The elves remain the Empire's closest allies, but they trade with all races. All that is, other than The Haradi Republic, as the two sides still regard each other with derision at worst, and outright hatred at best.

Demography and Population
Although the Empire is primarily human, it is probably the most diverse region in the world. The temperate climate and beautiful landscape, along with the security provided by the Empire's might and the relative love for the current Emperor make for an attractive place to live.
In most of the cities of the Empire, then, you can see representation of people from most of the races of Timor. Particularly this is true in the harbour cities - bustling hubs of trade which rival The Free Port of Goldack itself.
Territories
The Empire control most of Bandoor, except Korosk to the north and The Western Peninsula to the south-west. They also control numerous small islands off the Bandoor coast.
Military
The Imperial military consists of a single Imperial army, controlled ultimately by the Emperor, with delegated control to generals and captains in each region. The army is vast, and given that it is not an amalgamation of different tribes but a single unit, it is probably the largest army in the world.

Foreign Relations
The closest allies of the Empire have been, throughout it's history, the elves of Alvas. The elves reached out to Lord Madovar Thrax, the instigator of The Rise of the Thraxan Empire, and encouraged him to take action to build his empire - they played on the knowledge that Lord Thrax was desparate to build something which rivalled their strength, and they understood that he was capable of it. Early on, the elves sent advisors to the young Lord. Towards the end of their campaign, the elves also backed the empire in The Surdonian War, while the Dragonborn backed the Surdonians. To the collective relief of the world, the war ended soon after this and full scale world war was not realised.
The empire have always had a tense relationship with the Dragonborn of Harad, given their involvement as above. Many in the Empire saw the Surdonian war as an abject failure, although ultimately they conquered Surdo they did not defeat it's people despite huge sacrifice on their side. Many see their denial of ultimately crushing the Surdonians to be the fault of the Dragonborn denying it.
Similarly, they see The Sampalan Kingdom in the same light - given that their entry into the war was probably the most important factor in it's end, so again many in the Empire see them as responsible for the failure of the Surdonian War. The Empire have always seen The Kingdom of Korosk as close allies - probably because the Imperials were treated as esteemed guests when they visited Koyevo, despite the minor invasion of Imperial forces into the dwarven lands during the rise of the Empire. At the time, this was interpreted as a desire of the dwarves to convince the imperials to cease any further invasions - when infact the invasion was so short lived that King Volshek Korosk had almost completely forgotten about it. It isn't entirely clear whether the Dwarves see their alliance the same way, but they certainly have no ill will towards the Empire, and trade with them freely. Much like the Elves, some aspects of the Imperial society have been long unhappy about Ordash being given to the Half-orcs and Goblins, and are unsure of their proximity to the Bandoor coast. They have, however, had nothing but friendly encounters with it's inhabitants, and many in the Empire benefit from the illicit trade which goes through Goldack.
