The Tribal Union
The Tribal Union is the name for the collective of orc and half-orc tribes that have settled on the island of Ordash.
The island was gifted to them, along with the Goblins, by King Volshek Korosk after the events of Invasion of Warchief Drebok.
While their cousins, The Free Goblins of Ordash, moved south and established the city of Goldack, the orcs and half-orcs returned to a tribal way of life, establishing strongholds and villiages across the island at large.
Adaptation was difficult initially, as the tribes of Ordash had originally lived north of Korosk, in frozen mountains and tundras. Their new home, however, is the polar opposite, with humid and lush jungles interspersed with heavy downpour. Over the years, however, they adapted and thrived and built a good life in their new home. They learned to use the islands resources, and built a good grade establishment. Despite the danger posed by the islands huge jungles, the orcs have learned to navigate it well.
Each tribe is ruled by it's on Chief, who sets the rules and laws of that particular tribe. Chief Urkol Gorthraz, however, is seen as a hero and messiah of the half-orcs and orcs as a whole, and if he were to ask it is likely the tribes would unite around him. Urkol has settled along with his tribe in Urkadar, the largest of the orcish strongholds and the closest thing they have resembling a city. He, along with King Gimbeltrex, was the chief instigator of the uprising against the Warchief.
The Tribal Union now live a good life on Ordash, their new home.
Culture
The Orcs, much like the goblins near them, value freedom and liberty above all else, and will support their allies in living their lives to the extent that they are able. They adore the outside world, and seek to enjoy it and sustain it. Druids have emerged as an important group among the orcs, as they seek to care for the island around them as it cares for them as well.
Honour is important to the orcs, especially after the dishonour and humiliation they endured at the hands of their old master. Many still bear those old wounds in their mind, and struggle with their pasts.
Assets
The orcs are now adept at drawing resources from the land, and have often large stocks of food crops, alchemical reagents, meats and spices they have harvested from the jungles of Ordash. They don't, however, often have a great need for money living off the land as they do - but they will always find use for it. Usually, members of the tribe journey into Goldack intermittently to trade their wares to the Goblins there, and buy various pleasures for their tribes - such as alcohol, fine weapons or foods. This suits the goblins well, allowing them to (for a price) extract resources from the island which they can trade on, without needing to journey into the dangerous jungles themselves.
The orcs only trade in Goldack, to the goblins, but King Gimbletrex has made it clear that they are not to be taken advantage of, something that may have been easy to do given the orcish relative unfamiliarity with world commerce. Unofficially, this rule is enforced by Alfons the Noble and Slazik the Dog, who meter out harsh punishments to those who take advantage.
History
The orcs and half-orcs who ended up on Ordash originated on the islands to the north of Korosk, in frozen lands. The island was, in the deep past, settled by both humans and orcs, and intermingling between the two created a healthy population of half-orcs. The peoples of the island were separated into tribes, with variable relations between each. Some would war with each other intermittently, but healthy trade and peace was also common.
Very occasionally, a particularly aggressive warlord would arise in one of the clans, and dominate those around him or her and raise a large horde. These hordes would range south into the dwarvish lands across the sea in Korosk, and have variable success, usually not managing to get far past the northern cities.
Warchief Drebok, however, differed in that he subjugated almost every tribe in the island. It was his view that half-orcs, goblins, and orcs who allied with them, were abominations to orcish kind. He raised a vast slave horde alongside his main horde, leading them in vanguard and suicide attacks prior to the arrival of his orcs.
What followed was Invasion of Warchief Drebok, a military campaign which nearly destroyed The Kingdom of Korosk, and would have done if not for an uprising of the slaves led by Chief Urkol Gorthraz and King Gimbeltrex. In gratitude, King Volshek Korosk gifted them the island.
The orcs and half-orcs largely elected to return to their tradition of tribal living, separating into groups and establishing their own strongholds across the island, while the goblins moved south and established Goldack.
Culture changed, however, and the tribes although living separately share the same deep camraderie with each other and with their goblin cousins. Conflict and war have not plagued the tribes since their settlement on the island, and their living is much more collaborative now.
Military
There is no official military, each tribe has their own fighting force. Having said that however, it is widely believed that were Chief Urkol Gorthraz to raise the call, the tribes would unite under him.
Religion
Worship of both Grummsh and Kiri - Jolith are commonplace in the tribes, as both represent glory in war and honour, although the former is often considered evil by the other cultures of the world.
One emerging area is the worship of Pan, and the rise of druidic tradition secondary to this. Most likely, this new worship is borne from the symbiotic relationship that the orcs have developed with the island they now call home.
Foreign Relations
The orcs and half-orcs have a close relationship with the other members of their union, along with the goblins with whom they share the island. They also have a deep bond with the dwarves who they helped to save.
It is widely considered that the only thing that might force the dwarves - a usually insular society - into foreign war would be any aggression towards the denizens of Ordash.
The decision by the dwarves to award the island to it's current inhabitants was controvsial and unpopular with The Thraxan Empire and The Elven Confederacy, given their proximity to both of their coastlines. This has only been re-inforced by the culture of piracy emerging from the island, to which Imperial and Confederate ships are not immune. While this is mostly due to the goblins of Goldack, the ire of these two factions has been drawn to the island as a whole.
Similarly, The Sampalan Kingdom have a sour relationship with the Ordashan peoples, due to the illicit sale of bark and sap that goes on there - again this is more perpetrated by the Goblins, although the orcs and half-orcs freely allow their lands to be used for the storage of the illegal substance.
Haradasi Draconis and The Haradi Republic are largely ambivalent to the existence of the island, as the geographic location does not bring them into contact much. They do, however, enjoy the anger and frustration that the Ordashans bring upon the elves and the empire, so are more likely to look on them favourably.
