Red Quagmire
The Red Quagmire feed the red river that flows into Jingling. These lands were historically once part of the Jingling Empire before The Arrival Era began, although even when claimed by the Jingling elves the area was never populated by anything more than just the native population of Lizardfolk and a few border marches of the Jingling Elves. Long before The Arrival, or even the Pillar Forest was planted on the border of the Red Quagmire by the Xosutan Empire, the Jingling Empire built a large border spanning wall between themselves and the Red Quagmire which still stands to this day, although in a state of general disrepair.
The Lizardfolk of the Red Quagmire are the very same who made a infamous deal with Aurdu which many of the priests of Aurdu repeat in their temples as a sort of lesson as to the ways of nature and the fact prices need to be paid. The Lizardfolk of the Red Quagmire have made the deal that Aurdu, God of Nature will let them settle these lands, and this deal has imbued them with a mystical affinity to the land, they can shape the trees themselves into home, see through the murky red waters, and seem to never get lost even in the labyrinthine trails of the quagmire and the rivers that run throughout it. The price they needed to pay for this is that they can never cut down or destroy a living tree within the lands of Red Quagmire nor may they ever waste a kill. Every time they take a life they need to eat all the meat, use the bones and skin in crafting or for other purposes, however this also applies to humanoids and when the Lizardfolk know they have an upcoming conflict they will fast for days before so they can enter battle with a starved frenzy, and so they have room to consume those they kill. This mystical bond and ruleset is what have given the Lizardfolk of Red Quagmire their dread reputation.
Despite their reputation the Lizardfolk are generally a friendly sort that generally view things with a neutral morality towards the world, they do not go out of their way to start conflicts with others and are generally quite open to trade despite the fear or hate that the Jingling Empire still holds towards them. Many of the Lizardfolk of the Red Quagmire are quite willing to give guided passage through their lands for a price. Due to the strict rules of Aurdu they must follow woodcrafts are highly valued by the Red Quagmire Lizardfolk, as it is impossible to source them inside of the quagmire, however due to their divine ruleset if they ever find an outsider cutting down the trees of the Red Quagmire they will sentence them to death via a ritual feast.
