Valkur Narthask
Valkur Narthask is the Borderman, a Hobgoblin ambassador from Gristamere to Summerlund. He specializes in handling the border disputes along the Summerwall . Adventurers sometimes have to deal with him for caravan guard duty and to report rogue goblin activity.
Valkur was born with a deformed leg, and by hobgoblin tradition would normally have been killed. A priest of Kavesh, however, proclaimed that the god favored him, so he was allowed to live. His father, Hrubek Gerstenmager, refused to grant him the family name, instead giving him the surname Narthask (“crook leg”). Despite this, his older brother, Thrukesh Gerstenmager, always protected him, valuing his younger brother’s wisdom and shrewd intellect. When Thrukesh became Zhakastir, he granted his brother the title of Borderman, an office much higher than he would normally ever have been allowed to hold.
Now that Thrukesh is dead, Valkur has joined with Kabarika Clikirik, a goblin priestess of Kavesh, to seek the truth behind his brother’s slaying. He noticed that the challenger, Kershak Nakrul, fought with a power that seemed supernatural, and Kabarika has confirmed that Kavesh was not satisfied by the outcome. They have joined, and are now largely leading, a growing resistance against Nakrul’s regime, becoming a new species of Goblinoid called the Verdan. The two of them heard and answered the call of The Fourth Conclave of the Seven Kingdoms.
