Machinists
Children of Machina and the Order, the Machinists were created by the Goddess Machina to inhabit the Material Plane created in the aftermath of Kaos' rebellion. Whilst they have been extinct or at least missing for a very long time, quite a bit is known about them thanks to religious texts.
They had an appearance similar to humans, albeit better in every way. They were taller, smarter, stronger and more beautiful. Any current race could only be an imperfect imitation of their grandeur. They were immortal and immune to all diseases.
The fabled creations of the Gods of Order are known to all, but understood by few. For most people, the vastness of the Machinist Empire is incomprehensible as they not only ruled Trutina, but the stars and planets as well. Now, only their tombs and ruins remain.
When they were created, they were perfect and orderly. They had no greed or selfishness in their minds and only worked for the betterment of the world which they were tasked with perfecting. This started to change when Kaos created souls to influence and corrupt them. At first, it granted them increased magical and mental abilities, but evil soon took root in their hearts. Many Machinists fell victim to this corruption and a world-spanning civil war erupted between the loyal Machinists and the corrupted traitors.
This war raged on for thousands of years with no winner in sight. The loyal Machinists realized, that the war could not be won by either side, so they decided to create their own successors, the Forebears. As the Machinists' power was insignificant compared to Machina's, their creation was only an imitation of their own form, lesser in every way. However, there was one aspect of the Forebears, that the Machinists managed to improve upon. When corrupted by Kaos, Forebears don't necessarily become evil and might fight off the corruption even after it.
With their successors safely hidden away on Trutina, the loyalist Machinists returned to their war, which eventually led to their extinction.
