Il'Bisalais

"My only wish is for the survival of my people. If not that, then the survival of our way of life."
— Jellylight Codex, Lady of the Lake

The Il'Bisalai culture is one that values secrecy and prudence, honed by their long history of living in the depths below. This pelagic isolation and exposure to the dangers of the deep have fostered cunning subtlety woven into all of their social interactions. Despite their underhanded reputation, the Il'Bisal are known to be trustworthy, as they consider secrets to be forms of contracts.   The people of The Underlake tend to keep to themselves, only surfacing for necessary trade. Teaching something is seen as a proper display of love and respect to the Il'Bisal, though air-breathers often lack the ability to differentiate between when they are being taught and when they are being mocked. With Dratharr being a visual language, this emphasis on unspoken meaning is often difficult for foreigners to understand. While the Il'Bisal are now a diverse group of water-breathing species, they all hold the founding Drathunae race in high regard, basing their cultural norms around them.
