Yuan-Ti and Client Races
"You may call us barbaric for our self-modifications, but what is truly barbaric is the way you treat the least among your own citizenry."
Collectivist and generous, the Yuan-Ti and their client races believe the good of the whole is worth well more than one's own life. Children are raised by the entire community and families live in multi-generational housing. Poverty and homelessness are virtually eliminated as the community strives toward open access to social services, though all citizens are expected to share the burden of suffering in times of famine or war. Equality is seen amongst all people, though personal freedoms are not held in high regard. All citizens, even those who are not of the same species, are considered and called Yuan-Ti. Due to this value system, places of luxury are non-existent here, with accommodations standardized across the entire Empire with rare exceptions. Extra amenities are given to those who have undergone increased stages of mutations, though these accommodations could be argued to be necessary to support their unique physiologies: Yuan-Ti Client Races are made up of people who are not of the same species, but are culturally Yuan-Ti. Serpentine Mutagenesis using Cyanite can convert a member of a client race into a Yuan-Ti Halfblood if the citizen so chooses. Yuan-Ti Purebloods have only genetic mutations inherited at birth or a few minor modifications and retain mostly human features. Yuan-Ti Halfbloods have replaced either their lower or upper half with serpent features, leaving the rest unmodified. Yuan-Ti Abominations have gone through a full body mutagenesis and have an almost entirely self-designed physiology. Abominations can be much smaller or much larger than their unchanged form. Yuan-Ti Anathema are created through Masterwork Mutagen Artifice and are considered to be the leaders and central point of Yuan-Ti culture. Only one Anathema is created per generation.
