Scene: Sigrblót Year 2. Part 2
We return to my appartment and start preparing the food right away. It's less to worry about later, and it keeps me occupied. Alice seems content to leave our awkward talk at the door, so I'm relieved beyond measure.
"So, about tonight - Are you more into chick flicks or horror movies?" I ask, just to clear my head.
"Definitely horror," Alice answers. "But whatever's fine. By the way, you're phone is ringing."
"Oh, shit!" I quickly wash cucumber juice from my fingers and answer the phone, when I see it's Zeldine calling. "Hey, Zel!"
"Yo, come out on the balcony!" she demands enthusiastically. I wonder what she has to show this time.
"Okay?" I answer a bit puzzled, but head for the balcony door, opening it just in time for a beautiful swan to flow in and land elegantly in the doorway, before transforming into Lív's soft features, and she embraces me in a tight hug. Behind me I can hear something hard hitting the floor. Laughter breaks out from the phone, and I can hear Zeldine yelling:
"Damn, girl, that looked sick! I bet you didn't expect that."
Lív lifts my hand with the phone and, with a warm chuckle, answers: "I have never seen her look so shocked before!"
I look back, just in time to notice Alice picking up her own phone from the floor, looking even more shocked and awestruck. Lív and I break out laughing.
"I didn't expect you to show tonight," I say, when I am again able to speak.
Lív, drying a joyful tear away from her eye, answers: "Well, we were pretty certain none of this year's participants were for us, so I chose to be here with you instead." She is such a treasure.
I introduce her to Alice who looks possitively start struck, and buzz in Zeldine before returning to cut vegetables. Lív is patiently answering all of Alice's questions about wings and whatnot. Realizing that the thin fabric of her swan skin leaves nothing to imagination, I offer her free rein over my closet, and she returns from the bedroom wearing an oversized hoodie and fuzzy socks.
