Qyzhar|Qyzharah

The Qyzhar(ah), is the monarch and soverign ruler of the he Sublime he Sublime Qyzharate of Duryad's Greater Imperial Realmate of Duryad's Greater Imperial Realm. Durish rulers held several titles denoting their Imperial status. These included: Most High Sovereign of the Royal House of Duryadh, King of Kings, Magnificent Master of Naghron, Queen of Queens, Commander of the Faithful and Descendant of the Enlightenment, Successor of the Prophet of the Bright and Martial, etc…   The official royal titles of the Durish male and female monarchs are Qyzhar and Qyzharah, respectively. Qyzhar is the masqculine equivalent of to its feminine counterpart Qyzharah. This term is officially reserved to refer to a female monarch who rules in her own right (Qyzharah regnant), a Qyzhar’s consort (Qyzharah consort) or mother (Qyzharah dowager)

Appointment

In Duryad, the role of Qyzhar/Qyzharah is hereditary. In accordance with ancient tradition the  eldest child automatically assumes the throne once the previous reigning monarch dies or steps down. While the new monarch may officially assume the duties of qyzhar or qyzharah, the realm holds a coronation ceremony as well. The head of the Church of Bahamut, also known as the Acting Lord Grandmaster of the Valiant Justice, places the crown on the head of the new monarch and reads passages from scripture. In order to prevent wars of succession between rival siblings, many Qyzhar/Qyzharah's designated their first born as Crown Prince or Princess while living, thus confirming their choice of successor. However, despite this clear designation, some heirs have not become Qyzhar(ah) due to intrigues within the royal house; Crown Prince Orion was passed over by his father in favor of his younger sister, Haleema.

Duties

The Qyzhar/Qyzharah's main duty is to rule Duryad's vast imperial lands. Although not clearly stated, the Qyzhar/Qyzharah may be required to do some military duties. The Qyzhar/Qyzharah of Duryad is the commander-in-chief of all durish military personnel and militias, head of the Church of Bahamut, and the Supreme Justice of the Realm and Chief magistrate of all courts. Members of the Royal Family also represent their country in diplomatic affairs.

Responsibilities

On a day-to-day basis, the Qyzhar/Qyzharah meets with petitioners selected by members of their royal imperial court, the royal court themselves, the Royal High Court, the Council of Zhervizars and any individuals they may have personally requested to see.
