Tehsus
Avatar of Magic
Controlling the raw power of arcane and divine magic is a herculean feat even for a god and, as such, Tehsus is viewed, revered and feared for their raw power and strength of will. Even the other gods acknowledge Tehsus as an example of discipline and control. As such, when Ades descent into madness began, it was Tehsus who was forced into a union with the mad god in order to control him. This task proved even beyond Tehsus, however, though in truth their heart was never in it. Though their wedding night produced Udros, god of music and the arts, Ades preferred dalliances with mortals, and the first marriage of two gods is that in name only. Instead Tehsus has a long standing affair with Zadkush, god of light, that has produced two other gods (Mano, goddess of knowledge and Qyrad, god of disease and plague).
Recent events on Valine have indicated that Tehsus' control over the arcane is slipping.
Pockets of wild magic have increasingly emerged, some with catastrophic effects. This, along with a growing realization that no mortal encounters with Tehsus have been reported in three centuries has led to consternation in their temples along with a widespread campaign of propaganda from the highest levels of the faith that everything with magic is under control and the wild magic pockets are all part of Tehsus' plan. As they haven't been seen on Valine in so long, who knows? Perhaps this is the truth. Another theory posits that the strain of controlling divine and arcane magic along with the failure to reign in Ades' excesses have broken down the Avatar of Magic to the point where control is slipping or even that Tehsus has abandoned their charge.
Tehsus' past appearances on Valine have often been in the form of an androgynous teenage gith and this is how they are portrayed in religious art. Given the absence of the gith for so long on Valine, this has made Tehsus' few forays onto the world somewhat more notable than the other gods or, at least, more noticed. Several shrines mark locations or occasions when Tehsus involved themselves in mortal affairs.
