Udros
God of Music and the Arts
Conceived and birthed on the wedding night of Tehsus and Ades the Mad, Udros was the first god born from two others not Gama and Eruer. His dominion over music and the arts is often seen as a frivolous one by the other gods, but he insists that, in a world driven by gods of development and innovation, that the arts, and particularly music, are vital to the self-examination and full understanding of the mortal condition needed for mortal beings to push themselves beyond the familiar and mundane.
Udros is, of course, a favored deity of bards. He does not have formal temples, but rather shrines within artistic venues - playhouses, concert halls, even taverns with a small stage. In some cities, small shrines in the street mark places where bards may sing for a few silver and earn themselves enough for a hot meal and a bed for the night. Udros has a close relationship with Jopha the Verdant. He is their nephew and Jopha the Verdant mentored Udros through his early days as a god assigned what, in truth, was an area rather scorned and unwanted by the other gods. The two also became lovers and spawned the twin gods, Hunia and Mottuna.
When Udros appears on Valine, he most often take the form of a mature male darkling. Those lucky enough to be present when he appears may be treated to a song or a tune on his fiddle - an experience that no mortal can walk away from without being fundamentally changed.
Followers of Udros need not be artists or patrons. Many aspects of life touch upon artistry. A smith might give homage to Udros before starting the detail work on a decorative sword pommel, a mother might utter a small prayer to both Udros and Eruer before beginning a lullaby, and a leader composing a speech might give a tithe to one of Udros' shrines first.
