Darval Nation
Culture
Darvalans are competitive by nature. With the establishment of The Tribal Accord disagreements are often settled with games of skill and non-lethal sparring. An arena is a prominent place in each of their cities, offering a place to settle grievances, entertainment, and to some a way to make some coin.
They also put family above all else. Even though they are united against external forces, internally the tribes are still very much divided. Direct confrontations are rare, lest they incur the ire of the The Gotal Guard, but arguments and competitions are still commonplace between the different tribes. While the potential threat of external forces has brought the tribes together, self interest still drives their day to day. While those in positions of power deal with the other tribes, the common folk have undeniably benefitted from the new structure. No longer do they fear a potential attack from other tribes and as such are beginning to explore more leisurely activities such as art, poetry, and sculpture.
History
Before the nation came to be the lands were covered by independent clans. Each clan's people were territorial and there were often skirmishes between them for land, food, and resources. It wasn't until one of the clans ventured beyond the island and found that the world was much larger than they thought. Upon the travelers' return they informed their clan's leaders of the lands beyond. They became concerned that the peoples of these foreign lands, which were many according to their explorers, may come to their lands and invade. The clan then began speaking with other clans and eventually a truce was made between the clans to stop the constant fighting between them.
Once the leaders of the various clans agreed to a truce they all came together to determine how they would go forward to make sure these outside peoples couldn't overtake their homes. After days of discussion, sometimes nearly coming to blows, an agreement was reached called The Tribal Accord.
