Onwards
- The party sailed towards Harold's Landing, in the aims of getting some help from Sentinel.
- Harold spent some time reading up on teleportation.
- Alton received a panicked message from Ryltar.
She's trying to scry. He's going to kill her. Myviira's dominated commanded the coaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa a sharp cry of pain followed by a gurgle,
- Alton had Wyn dismiss and call the bird in her room to make sure it was her familiar. He also gave Wyn his amulet of proof against detection and location, noticing that she had some kind of house medallion when she put it on.
- Krumbleton made some mashed potatoes while Crunch tinkered with something in the corner of the kitchen. Crunch attempted to block Krumbleton from seeing so Krumbleton respected his privacy.
- Alton and Farren sought out Krumbleton to ask if he could divine or scry on Myviira. Krumbleton would be ready the next day
Betrayal
- Krumbleton noticed that Crunch was behaving out of character, using monotone voices, attempting to take only a plate of mashed potatoes to "the child who is sad" and tried to get him to talk.
- When Krumbleton refused to allow Crunch to pass, Crunch attacked, seriously wounding the dwarf with a poison coated chef's knife.
- Krumbleton refused to fight his friend and fled up the stairs, calling for help from the crew and calling on Thor to heal his wounds.
- Alton went to investigate where he had heard Krumbleton yell and noticed Crunch standing over blood on the floor. He returned to guard Wyn.
- Harold peeked out of his room to investigate, finding the door unlocked again. He spoke with Crunch who explained that Krumbleton's scream had been a joke, and mimicked Krumbleton's call for help. Harold accepted this and went back to his room.
- Crunch picked up the plate of potatoes and went to Fernando's room (where Wyn was resting). He noticed Alton, despite Alton presumably being invisible outside the door.
- When Alton refused to let Crunch in, Crunch repeated himself several times, growing more agitated, and then attacked Alton with the chef's knife and a dagger he pulled from the bag, letting the mashed potatoes fall to the ground.
- The captain and Rust hurried to aid Krumbleton and Alton, who cried out that Crunch had a knife.
- Krumbleton called down healing to his friends, but did not wish to fight Crunch.
- The crew on deck came to offer help, but also had to man their stations.
- Crunch attacked when the party blocked his way to Wyn, but did not attack when anyone backed away.
- Donnie and Wyldo were also alerted by the noise. At the captain's request, Donnie used her goggles to instantly cast identify on Crunch. She then tried to charge for the service but as it was not agreed beforehand, the captain refused.
- Crunch was under the effects of a 9th level dominate soul spell and was effectively being controlled by someone else. He was visibly shaking, trying to resist.
- Harold managed to distract Crunch by conjuring an image of Wyn hiding behind Alton and an illusion of her voice.
- Curiously, while Crunch was distracted, he seemed unable to see the illusion.
- While Crunch was confused, Farren and Rust managed to dispel the effect on Crunch. Crunch crumpled to the ground.
- Farren and Krumbleton healed up the injured, including Crunch, who woke up, confused and without memory.
- Alton mentioned that this reminded him of priestesses casting dominate person on people in his homeland.
- Farren managed to calm Crunch when he panicked after realizing he had broken his vow of pacifism.
- Donnie retreated back into the crew quarters, visibly upset.
This will not happen again
- Crunch was left to his own devices and spent a good portion of the nigh commiserating with Donnie over drinks.
- Alton and Farren took shifts watching Wyn over the course of the night
- Wyn attempted to go to breakfast alone, and Farren stopped her, saying he would go with her.
- While Farren spoke to Harold, Wyn snuck off to hide with Rust. She expressed her feelings of Alton and Farren being weirds and many other things. Rust nodded, but understood nothing.
- Alton tracked down Wyn but let her stay with Rust for the time being.
- Wanting to avoid any future issues, Farren interviewed all crew members, finding that Mirdock and Judy had a couple minor injuries that they did not remember getting. Other than that, no one seemed possessed or otherwise mind controlled. He detected nothing out of the ordinary through his paladin senses.
- Alton gave the crew a lesson on vampires using Zed's old book.
- Inspired, Harold attempted to silver the tips of his helmet (ignoring the note that silver was not noted to have an effect on these vampires but also being careful to only coat the tips in case it had negative effects on the enchantment on the helmet). He also sought to coat them with some kind of vampire killing poison, but avoided using holy water as he figured that would damage the helmet. Rust helped him with the silver.
Rust is on a Mission
- Rust investigated the summoning sign left on the ship with the help of Fernando and Gim. They believe that together they could activate it.
- Rust inquired if Fernando would help him read over Zed's notes for controlling the undead. Fernando felt uncomfortable with this for the time being and did not assist.
Alton asks for Help
- Alton tried offering a prayer to Lyra "The Money God" "Auryly" Auranoryr, but was interrupted by Harold led by Wyn and her bird. He received a coin though.
- Alton told Harold that Wyn had no idea what Harold had been asking despite Wyn having figured it out. He berated Harold for brining Wyn on the deck but Harold pointed out that she was with him and fine.
- Alton then spoke with Finn and Wyn, reminiscing on his homeland, slightly terrifying Finn and confusing Wyn.
- Wyn ate a deep fried spider once. She didn't like it.
Safely at Sen's
- Panda and Pup chased each other happily.
- Sen welcomed most of the party back
- Rust asked who Stalvin was. Sen was upset, accusing Rust of playing games with him again. Nonetheless, he claimed that Stalvin was among their creators, one who chased war when war was over.
- Sen was familiar with the vampire Myviira, but his information was out of date. He claimed that the Raymond vampires had historically been a bigger problem.
that the vampires in the land below had not been a serious threat for some time.that Myviira historically had more experience in infiltrating non vampire groups to secure food and her being identified as a "queen" was concerning.
that the location on the Sapphire Island was called Haryk's Retreat.
- Sen reluctantly recommended that the party seek the council of the vampire Lord Lys, who would have more up to date information. Lys could be found at Sia's Folly.
- At Farren's request, Sen cast a spell to protect the ship from vampires. The spell was modified to only keep vampires away, not other undead, so that Fernando could remain. He warned that it could be dispelled if they took it in too close to the vampire's lair.
- Harold asked Sen to accompany them, but Sen refused as he had already agreed to guard Wyn.
- Alton's bow did not like Sen
- Harold sought a special wood to stake vampires, but was informed that any wood would do, and the hard wood is harder than soft wood.
Special Delivery
- Alton and Rust went to Donnie's ship (Donnie had sent them to Sen's previously) and received the items they had ordered from her earlier.
- Alton told Wyn she was not getting his new dagger, then put it in his bag of holding, in his backpack. She took this as a challenge.
- Alton requested someone send a message to Ryltar. Donnie asked Cedric to assist. He told Ryltar that they were coming to save him but Ryltar did not reply.
- As far as Cedric could tell, the spell did not fail so Ryltar was likely alive, only unable to respond.
