General Summary
Where Are We
- The party attempted to ascertain their location
- They were on a rock in the middle of the water somewhere
- There was nothing over the horizon. There is a horizon, because the fragments of sky islands are all kind of round, like they broke off a normal spherical world. Compasses do not work. No further questions please.
- There was a very large bird, assumed to be a roc, flying overhead. Harold attempted to follow it, but could not keep up. He noticed a large splash in the water below but no land or ships in sight.
- The sun was overhead, so the party deduced that they were not in the Land Below.
- Beau proposed a risky teleportation to escape.
- Beau was most comfortable teleporting to New Port but the party was vehemently against this.
- Other options mentioned were Port and Auroliryn.
- The party attempted to teleport to Auroliryn, as Alton very much wanted to retrieve Ryltar.
So Some Cities have Wards against teleportation
- Fernando hopped into a bag of holding.
- There was one violent mishap as Beau attempted to teleport the party.
- They made it to Auroliryn, but were somehow intercepted and found themselves surrounded by some surprised guards.
- Apparently, Auroliryn has wards designed to intercept any teleportation into the city not directed to an authorized circle. This was designed by one of the city founders who was long dead. Captain Farren filed a request to have more information on the magic, and to contact Finn the Green with the results.
- The Zeds, not having their passports, ran into some trouble. Harold made up a story and tried to speed forge documents with minor illusion. The captain attempted to distract the head guard as he did this. Alton asked them to contact Siglern to vouch for them.
- The guard had not heard of Beau. Or Farren. Or Alton. Or Duke Harold XII. He had heard of Krumbleton.
- Farren refused to leave the Zeds alone.
- The Zeds were brought to a permanent circle of truth and filled out extensive documentation to replace their passports.
- Siglern arrived, and helped the party out a bit with this, though he was surprised they would call him for help - he did not really know them well. Regardless, he looked healthier than when they had last seen him.
- Alton sent Ryltar a message that they were fine, in the city, and would see him later.
- Krumbleton escorted the Zeds and the giant fire salamander to Alton's apartment.
- For some reason, Harold's story was that the Keymaster of Newport had them escorting the dangerous creature (big matee) through the city. This story was somewhat flawed as the keymaster not only did not have authority in Auroliryni territories, he was reportedly missing as New Port had been abandoned.
The gods have various styles
- Farren, Alton, and Harold discussed the coins they had taken from Vickie. Alton wanted to trade Busni's to Aurolyr for information on how to help Kayelin. Farren wanted to ask Luin what would be best to do with Gyrdyr's coins. Beau wondered about the faceless coin she had received in Harold's Landing.
- They set off to the great temple. There was a set-up similar to that of Luin's Darkwood temple, with smaller shrines on the outskirts and the main temple to Lyra in the center this time.
- While there were shrines to other deities besides the alliance of Luin, Lyra, Thor, and previously Gyrdyr, Harold could not find a shrine to Rayne. Harold attempted to write Rayne in the dirt and place an apple on it. He was interupted by Mieri, who informed him that Rayne was not welcome there.
- Mieri said Rayne was banned from the city because he was trouble, and assured Harold this was true - she would know as she had dated him for several years.
- Mieri told Harold he could make his "shrine" just outside the city.
- Harold wrote "Rayne wuz here" on the ground by a stone and placed an apple on it. With a crunch, a bite was taken out of the apple and Harold heard chuckling in the back of his mind.
- Farren and Harold then went to the shrine of Luin. While inside, Farren was able to touch Gyrdyr's coin without taking damage. He sat and prayed, and meditated.
- Farren was given a vision as an armoured man, presumably Gyrdyr, held his hand over a flame that turned black and then burnt his palm with strange dark tendrils. Farren saw the man go from staring out a window into a bright sky to a dark hallway. There, the man shook hands with Vickie, his damaged hand behind his back and a serious, but slight grin on his face. He then shattered, but the grin never left his face.
- The shrine keeper was a dark elf named Kethan Rammyr. He expressed some frustration that Luin was not always clear in her messages. Farren assured him it was fine. He then watched Kethan Rammyr grow more an more surprised as he saw the sword of sunlight on his belt.
- Farren heard of recent troubles in the tunnels/roads, and of two people claiming to be from a group called "Luin's Shadow" who had stopped by to help.
- Alton offered Busni's coin to Aurolyr and sat down with wine at one of the tables to commune. Lyra appeared, commented on how it was surprising that Alton had survived this long and refused to tell him how to save Kayelin. She claimed it was too dangerous for him, and that if she told them, it probably wouldn't work anyway.
- Alton instead asked for information on Balok and then Rust.
- Balok's soul was being held by Andichar not far from Alton's old home. Lyra did not know how he planned to trap them, or get them there. She also got this information from someone else, as her power and sight did not extend past Vyaelian.
- Rust's core had aparently been somewhat restored, but his amnesia had been cured and the conciousness that was once Rust was no more. Also, he had vanished from the sight of the gods.
- Lyra shook hands with Alton, and left him with another coin as change.
- Farren met Lyra, who told him that "Gyrdyr was corrupted, but became (or so he could become) a corruption to his enemies".
Beau-Ba
- Beau went to the museum to ask about her coin.
- There was no record of such a coin, but there were silver coins from Vyra with one face missing. These were rumoured to be the result of the Silver Queen trading away her name, or just misprints.
- Beau went to the temple to ask a priestess, as Lyra/Aurolyr did have something of a coin theme. The priestess had also never seen a silver coin like this. She mentioned silver was a holy metal, sometimes.
- Beau recieved instructions to bring a suitable offering to the table to commune with Aurolyr/Lyra.
- Beau went out to purchase a 25gp Beau-Ba tea, definitely named in her honour.
- Lyra found this drink amusing and appeared to answer Beau's questions. The coin was a token for a secretive group she was more likely to run into in the Land Below, specifically Caiaryn. Although there were some individuals in a particular black market who would also take it.
- The group was not intentionally malicious.
- Lyra called Beau out on being a hob. This rattled Beau.
Back to the Apartment
- The party regrouped at Alton's apartment. Ryltar had refurnished it.
- There had been trouble in the tunnels. more shadow creatures. This may have been related to Vickie's death. Since there were still many Ebonclouds and Exiles in the area from the last time, the issue seemed to have been dealt with swiftly.
- Farren signalled the ship to return to Harold's Landing, and asked Donnie to prepare a way to come fetch them once the ship arrived.
- Alton wanted to fetch Balok, who was apparently on loan for 2 more months.
- Harold wanted to go to the Isle of Roses.
