Aljini-Eajib - The Wondrous City of the Djinn
Aljini-Eajib is a massive, magical city full of djinni, djinni-blooded kin, and elementals that was created by the Prime Elementals sometime after The Creation of the Material Planes during The Unwritten Age. The city made its presence known for the first time on the Material Plane after The Schism and appeared floating above the Tharwazan Desert. The djinni's arrival helped lead to the adoption of primal magic by residents of the Material Plane (see The History of Primal Magic). For years, the powerful wish djinni of the city would grant wishes and gifts to those they deamed worthy. This lead to much admiration of the city by the rest of the world that knew about them. This lead to great frustration in the desert elves of Ramilsahar, and eventually to the events of The Fall of Ramilsahar.
Centuries later, during The Written Age the city made its first reappearance since the war with Ramilsahar. The djinni once again began granting wishes and gifts to those they deemed worthy, however this time they made more of a game out of it. The city remains undetectable to nearly all forms of magic and seems to fly over the Tharwazan Desert, never staying in one place for long. The only way people have found the city is by tracking the effect that whatever element is in control of the city has on the surrounding desert, such as an oasis forming under its location when the Plane of Water controls the city. The reappearance of the city and promise for potential wishes brought many travelers from around Vylderaine to the Tharwazan Desert, who overtime founded the Roving Cities of Tharwaza. While the djinni are picky about who they let find them, and even pickier about who they let enter, they almost never permit anyone to stay or live behind their walls unless they have djinni-blood flowing through their veins. These events led to the naming of the age the city reappeared in as The Age of Wonders.
The city itself is run by a powerful djinn that volunteers themselves to be the avatar for one of the Prime Elementals. Due to the agreement made by all the deities after the Schism, no deity can physically manifest and directly influence any of the Material Planes, to get around this, the Prime Elementals instead possess their personal djinn volunteer and rule the city through them as a god-king. The Prime Elemental that rules the city at any given time is determined by which of the elemental planes is currently influencing the Material Plane the most at any given time. This influence changes based on how much of each element is being accessed by the plane by magical or mundane means. Once an element is in charge of the city, it is between the two Prime Elementals of that element to decide who gets to rule the city and who rules their elemental plane. Because of this, the government of Aljini-Eajib is in constant flux between all of the Prime Elementals' avatars.
