Prime Elementals

The Prime Elementals are a collection of lesser deities that make of the strongest elementals to exist on each of their respective planes. While each of the Prime Elementals keep their domains on their own home planes, they are greatly intrigued by the Material Plane and often choose to exert their influence over that plane as well gaining them more power and followers. The Prime Elementals often compete against each other for influence over the Material Plane, as whichever of the elemental planes are used as a source of power and magic the most on the Material Plane at the time, the closer that elemental plane draws to the Material Plane within the Astral Plane. The closer an elemental plane gets to the Material Plane the stronger that element's influence, and by extension the Prime Elementals of that elements' influence grows on the Material Plane. It is a constant game of tug-of-war between the Prime Elementals over the Material Plane. Whichever elemental plane has the most influence over the Material Plane at any given time also gains political control over Aljini-Eajib - The Wondrous City of the Djinn. Howver, since deities cannot physically interfer with the ongoings of the Material Plane, each generation, each of the Prime Elementals chooses a djinn or at least a mortal with djinni blood in the city to act as their avatar. These chosen followers voluntarily give up their bodies to possession by one of the Prime Elementals of their bloodline who then rules the city through them a sort of god-king.
