Kapaerian Island
The largest island in the West Isles archipelago, far off the coast of Xen'drik, and where the town has been built. Named for Captain Raela Kapaerian, the famed explorer who mostly circumnavigated the island before disappearing.
It's been discovered to be mostly tropical in climate, with extensive rainforests and jungles. The northernmost tip, on the leeward side of the mountains is dry savannah, but in the shadow of the Banor's Spear and Fearfrost mountain ranges the climate is hot, humid and wet. The Darkflow and Kraken rivers extend through the northern and southern forests respectively, and locals talk of mountains and marshland further south.
The enormous volcano known as Adaxus' Furnace seems to be the tallest point on the island, large slopes surrounding it with volcanic alpine tundra. It is unknown how active or dormant the volcano is, but the area is still geothermally active.
In the times of the ancient giants, it was apparently known as Isla Scora. Historical information shows that one independent city-state called Scora Bael sat on the western side of the island, but otherwise the island was used as a testing ground by The Sul'at League.
Geography
A large island, about 500km tip to tip, dominated by jungles, rainforest and savanna. Mostly unexplored by Khorvairan settlers, but mostly tropical in climate and just south of the equator, off the west coast of the continent of Xendrik.
Several other islands, including the Barrier Island sit off its eastern and southern coast.
Natural Resources
Being on the equator, the island is a source of very rare Siberys dragonshards, which fall in showers from the Ring of Siberys that surrounds the planet.
