Seria (Sare-e-ah)

Seria is a tribe of humans that was founded shortly after the humans landed in Archtun in the year 4512 2E. Seria broke off from the rest of the humans because of their adopted belief in The Forsaken Gods and their belief in the usage of Dark Magic. They settled by the thousands along the northwestern corner of present-day Roscrea. Splinter groups would appear from the tribe, such as the half-breeds, The Men of the Hill, and The Witches of Nalgourd after The Serian Civil War. The cause of the civil war came about when debating over if Seria should stay under the leash of The Forsaken Gods or be free and adopt their own identity apart from them. The Khalar Famine also began at around this time, causing competition for resources. Two predominant sides would come from the civil war, one led by a man named Muluch, who was a cousin to Shey Chein, and the other led by a woman named Bethfal. Muluch and his side, which were devoted to The Forsaken Gods, came about victorious in the end, with the almost complete destruction of any who believed in not remaining under the leash of The Forsaken Gods. During the civil war, Muluch asked for The Forsaken Gods to grant his people power to win over Bethfal and her sect, so The Forsaken Gods implemented a curse upon them known as The Blessing of the Forsaken, which turned the populace into weird human hybrids that relied on blood for their survival but were granted great power. Seria would never be able to recover from this civil war, however, and the tribe of Roscrea was able to overpower them and win a decisive victory at Water's Edge, casting them out of Archtun, despite their newfound power from their curse.   They would travel across The Great Sea to an island known simply as Sarus. The land was unused and habitable for them, so the remaining Serians under Muluch built their society on the island. However, The Curse of the Forsaken made it so the land would eventually become dark and twisted over time, changing the geological landscape of the island into something far more sinister and dark.

History

[Serian-Roscrean civil war]   After their banishment, Seria would travel across the Great Sea in what was known as the Fifty-Year voyage. It was reported that for months on end, the Serian fleet would stop and simply weep for their homeland. It was also during this time that the Serians would try to raise up their own island as a new home, but they were stopped by the Elderwater in the area, as per the request of Meredian.    Foath, one of the Forsaken Gods, would take pity on the Serians, and appear to Muluch during one of their great weeping at sea, and instruct him to follow a great atronach he had summoned. The Serians would obey, and under the leadership of Muluch, they would follow the gigantic atronach across the sea, to the shores of the island they would call Sarus, which was inhabited by a species native to the island. The Serians continued to follow the atronach onto land and easily conquered the natives to the island and used them as slaves. The atronach would guide the Serians through a valley they would name the Dimmed Valley, before finally stopping at the end of the valley and transforming its body into a great citadel for the Serians to call their capital. The Serians would call this pilgrimage, the Pilgrimage of Foath.

Culture

Major language groups and dialects

Spoken in their own version of Old Roscrean, most Serian members have their own accents, and even words that belong to themselves, almost distinguishing themselves as an entirely different language.

Culture and cultural heritage

Seria was once  a tribal nation of sorts, with nothing more than mere rags on their back. They fought for their survival daily in the wilds of Roscrea, and often fought against the tribe on Roncaria. Their ancestors would often kill and fight one another as well.

Shared customary codes and values

Seria believes that all aspects of magic should be utilized, and that includes dark magic. A core ideal of Seria is that magic should be free to use, and that the strongest should wield it. Without power, there is weakness, and weakness brings destruction to their tribe. Seria believes in the death and destruction in anyone that does not believe in their values.

Average technological level

Seria has achieved much within the past hundreds of years. They have developed weaponry in which the world has never seen, even rivaling that of the dwarves of Guilnile. One of these inventions, being the air ballon, which is used in both war, and transportation.

Common Etiquette rules

Once being a savage and fearful tribe, Seria has turned into one of professionalism, with now tipping your pinky while you drink, or walking with ones chin up, respect and etiquette is important to Seria.

Common Dress code

Seria once wore mere rags and skin of the local wildlife, but not wear their own version of professional attire, with clothing compared to modern day suits, and royalty clothing, colored dark for the royalty of Seria.

Art & Architecture

Once nothing more than mere huts, Seria now lives in sprawling castles, with spiraling towers that pierce the clouds. With Sharp, jagged edges, and dark, gothic colors, their architecture strikes fear into the heart of their enemies.

Major organizations

Seria is closely related to the humans of the Roscrean Empire, being from the same bloodline, in fact, many would consider these two factions to be almost like cousins. But ever since the banishment of Seria from across the sea, Seria has grown an intense burning hatred for Roscrea, and wishes nothing but the absolute ruin for the empire.

The Half Breeds

”In the end, it was that they, that were the monsters. The strongest of magic wielders in the tribe of Seeria put a curse on all of the monsters that did such things. They twisted, and formed into half beast, and half human hybrids. They were now eternally bound to that which they considered lesser, a fitting lesson.”   -High Councilor of the Half Breeds
The halfbreeds were once a part of the tribe of Seria. Groups of people within the tribes would often torture, and kill animals within the wilderness for their own pleasure and entertainment. Seria saw this as a disrespect towards nature, the same that offered them food and resources, and eventually cursed all those that committed these crimes. Through dark magic, they were transformed and intertwined their DNA with that of the wild beasts they had once hunted and tortured. These people became known as the half breeds, and they were banished from ever returning to Serian lands.
