Northern Roscrea (Ross - Kree - ah)

Raging rivers, dramatic cliffs, mountains that look divine, forests as cursed as a witch, Northern Roscrea has certainly seen its fair of bloodshed, and the foolish elites that sit on their thrones in Roncaria foolishly believe that the region goes uncontested. Little do they know that ancient evils from Roscrea's past still lie behind every ill treated tree in the region.   -A Traveler's guide to Roscrea, (91)

General

Northern Roscrea serves as the northern region for Roscrea. Here, in this cold, unforgiving region, the humans of Roscrea try their best to tame the wilderness, and create a lasting civilization that will remain. Serving as a buffer to the northern dwarven land of Guilnile, Northern Roscrea is used for much diplomacy between the two nations. It also has a great number of dwarven population, along with dwarven outposts dotting the landscape. It was also the most recently settled region by Roscrea, making it easily the most wild and untamed region throughout the Roscrea empire.

Geography

A mountainous and forested region, this wild region of Roscrea shows little remorse for any that do not find themselves within the shelter of a village or city. But the geography of Northern Roscrea is both its bane and benefit.

Stridebreaker River

The Stridebreaker river is a large river that comes from Guilnile, all the way down the entire continent of Archtun. It empties out to the north of the Disservive gulf, and is the center of transportation and trade within the region. The snow atop the Guilnile mountains melts down into a large amount of water, which flows down into open sea.

Forests of Northern Roscrea

Northern Roscrea is known for its many forests and lumber industry, as it holds countless different types of wood, although none compare to the Redberry of the Orxder forest. The forests of Northern Roscrea include; Blackwood, Greywood, and Dark Pine Forest.

The highlands

Because of the mountainous nature of Northern Roscrea, the terrain of the region is generally very hilly, and the region contains many different highlands, especially near the basins of mountains. Because of this, travel and farming is harder here than in other regions of Roscrea.

History

Seria and Northern Roscrea

The long forgotten tribe of Seria, cousins to the ancestors of Roscrea, have the greatest activity in this region of Roscrea than any other. Here, witches and black magic users corrupt the land here, turning forests into corrupted, decrepit places, and forcing the wildlife to bend to their will. Seria has set its eyes upon Northern Roscrea, and now sees value in the wild land.

Colonization

Northern Roscrea was the last region of Roscrea to be settled by the Roscrean empire. In 1E 6818, the dwarves of Guilnile left the land due to its decreasing population and increasing climate. The Roscreans immediately sent expeditions to scout the land for colonization.

The First Expedition

The first expedition into Northern Roscrea searched the region, to see if any resources could be of value to their growing empire. They found the Stridebreak river, which flowed from Guilnile, into the open Disservive Gulf to the west. An abundance of lumber was also found, with Greywoods having a rare type of wood not found before.    Immediately after the expedition had returned with the news of the Stridebreak river, and the abundance of lumber, homesteads began to be created throughout the region, and small villages began to sprout between every grass blade.

The Second expedition

The second expedition into Northern Roscrea was created in order to scout for notable future spots to build great cities and establish an official grip over the region. Most agreed for a city to be built upon the coast of the land to the west, a trade hub to be built upon the middle of the Stridebreak river, and one built at the end of the Guilnile mountains.
