Summer Camp 2024 Reading Challenge and Future Goals
A myth about food
Honey Fillobits
by harldawgOverall I liked the presentation of this article. It even included a recipe for those that end up reading trying it out let me know if it something to try. I take away from this is when I do food next summer camp is to think of something that has a real recipe instead making up a bunch of fantasy things that might not taste good.
A sub-culture considered larger-than-life by some
Crimson Court
by Pandora9After looking and reading over this article it really called out to me. I have been debating time and time again that maybe having sub articles is getting to complicated. However, by having branching articles that go more indepth could really give the reader something they want. Overall loved the presentation of this article and the flow.
A sickness that caused societal upheaval
Reaving Thirst
by Hanhula
I love this article. It will instill the right amount of fear into anyone running a Sea based campaign for any table top rpg. It reminds me of Dr. Who for one of the monsters they had to face off with.
A hybrid species intentionally bred
Drakonis
by DragonkleeI almost feel if I get bit by one of these creatures I would turn into one as well. It has a similar vibe of a wearfolk-like creature with the three forms. I am a big lover of dragons and it gives more eloquence to this than Kobold or Dragonborn would for Dungeon and Dragons races.
A myth or prophecy about the end of the world
The Return to the Stars
by Pete NelsonI love the tie into humans coming from the stars concept. In my world, I have materials and lore of a moon exploding causing history and chaos. To have the humans be from the stars gives a new meaning and with the omen of them one day leaving by the stars I like this concept. Really well done.
A piece of tech that prevents decay
Spellbind Manacles
by BarronEvery setting needs a set of magic-dampening cuffs of some kind. I love how its also used to save people from the disorder.
A degenerative disease
Oxytoxemia
by deleynaI love the twist on Asthma but for an ash-laden world. It shows how you can take something as a disease in the real world and flip the script for a fantasy world with a few strokes of a pen and clicks of a keyboard.
Slang or a language associated with a religion or belief
Qêrpúian
by pa_kalshaI like how you give the history of the language. I am the same way if I write about a language in my setting it is typically the history of it or its general uses. I never go into full details but I did see you have past tense and future tenses. Overall I enjoyed this article.
A document that changed the course of history
Pact of Solaris Aversion
by ThorntheArabTo me, this is like an anti-Manifest Destiny claim. Preventing humans from becoming a super species in the galaxy. Overall great work on this article.
A vehicle that, when introduced, caused social upheaval
The Juggernaught Caravan
by AmazingChiIn the typical story, there is a need for one area but then it greatly impacts different areas when resolved. There is never a best-fit solution for everything. Overall I enjoyed getting a bit of the mindset of the inventor that helps explain their drive and focus to create this vehicle. You can also see the similarities between this and the invention of interstates and the impact on route 66 in the united states.
