Iron Bluff

A large city on the southern coast of Yonder. It is most known for its massive seaside fortifications. The enormous bastion is a relic from a previous time and makes the city all but impenetrable from a seaside attack. The coast along this area is a sheer cliff face to begin with but some unknown civilization carved a fortress deep into the side of the cliff and extended it a good 60 feet above the cliffside as well. This whole wall then seems to have been plated in a single solid sheet of iron. This had to have been accomplished by some kind of magical means. The Iron wall never rusts, It has not changed as far as history knows since its creation. It has withstood many sieges and has been the subject of arcane research for many years. It remains one of the larger mysteries of the modern world. The city has a population of about 20,000, with around 10,000 more people in the surrounding region.   Iron Bluff because of its size and security is the largest trading hub in the south east. There is also a decently sized naval force stationed in the area and is commanded by a commodore that is stationed in the city. This same commodore oversees the garrison of 500 soldiers assigned to manning the Bluff itself. They are a solid group of soldiers all around and with the ships crew and garrison number about 1000 strong, They are seasoned by years of fighting raiders and pirates. Within the city there is also a small mages college. It doesn’t rival anything like what is in the elvish capitol or in Yodenheim but it is respectable none the less. Guilds make up the majority of the city. There are all kinds from carpenters to tanners to jewelers to silversmiths. There is also a larger amount of crime in the city as well. There is a thieves guild that rules the underground and black market and doesn’t tolerate outsiders.   Ale and Earth shipping is a smaller merchant company. They only ship with caravans along the southern trade route. They will be pissed off about the caravan that got raided by the Red Hand. Anyone trying to sell illegally salvaged goods will have lawyers coming after them. Unfortunately for Tam if he returns to Iron Bluff the company will try to blame him for the caravan being attacked and say that he was in on it, because he is holding the cargo for ransom.   Sentinels have some presence in the city, at the mages college. Almost all are gone from the city at the moment, gone to the tower meeting. Last remaining member is the archmage of the city, needed to stay to monitor the apprentices and has to stay so that the city can be magically protected.   Moving fortunes shipping company office       It falls under the overall rule of the elvish kingdom but has its own council that moderates all local issues. This council is made up of prominent business leaders and guild members.
