Kalamzaresh

Emperor Kalamzaresh

Mental characteristics

Personal history

Kalamzaresh was a gold Dragon, the rarest and thus highest in status of all Dragon types. Because of his upbringing, and the deference shown to him as a gold Dragon, Kalamzaresh was incredibly arrogant. He originally lived on a different continent, in Abrizan, the Dragon homeland. He was banished in 747 for practicing necromancy, which was considered the worst thing a person could do. Kalamzaresh and his followers left, and spent some time wandering. Eventually, they came across Zelunica, which at the time was ruled by the Zelunii Empire.   Kalamzaresh led his followers to attack and conquer the Zelunii Empire. The Zelunii weren't prepared for fighting dragons, and they were defeated easily. Many of their cities were razed, and the ones that weren't were put under the control of Kalamzaresh's favorite followers. Soon afterwards, the Old Capital was built. Thus began the New Abrizan Empire.   After the last of the Zelunii resistance was subdued, Kalamzaresh instituted Draconic as the official language of the Empire, and replaced the currency with his own coins, which were shaped like him. Because these coins were manufactured with magic, they appeared quite lifelike, and some more superstitious people believed that Kalamzaresh could see through the eyes of the coins.   Kalamzaresh was a tyrant, to a worse extent than any other on the continent in the time since. He was known for terrible acts of retribution for the slightest insult, once burning an entire village because of the disparaging remarks of a single child. For a long time, he ruled without much incident, only a few minor rebellions that were easily crushed. This ended in 1235, when the Old Capital was destroyed. When this happened, almost everyone in the Empire believed that Kalamzaresh was dead, however, he was a Lich, and because of this the poison that was unleashed on the city did not kill him, although it did incapacitate him for a while. He expended many of his souls trying to escape. By the time he managed to leave the city, his empire was already in shambles. He went into hiding, and started to plan his revenge. These plans were interrupted in 1245, when Xeies located his Phylactery and consumed his Soul, finally ending his life.
