The Son of a merchant, Ashwin has spent more time at sea than on land and has a deep respect for the Ocean. Through necessity, Aswhin is also a confident fighter, skilled with the use of axe and shield, and is ready to stand on deck and repel boarders.
Ashwin Khan is a natural seafarer, and the son of a Merchant. Born in the bustling port city of Kuddah, in the kingdom of Mytos, Ashwin's father Ranjit, took him on board his trade ship, the moment he could walk, intent on teaching his son the family trade.
Ashwin was a fast learner, like his father, and by the age of six, was scaling the rigging and watching the distant horizons for dangers, from the crow's nest.
By fifteen years of age, Ashwin had lost count of he number of times he had journeyed around the northern most point of the south-eastern continent, on the Sea-trade route from the Eastern- to the Western kingdoms.
It was on one of these voyages, Ashwin's father was killed, when the ship came under attack by corsairs. The Defenders managed to beat back the corsairs, saving their ship's precious cargo of Lorisham Steel.
Sailing, for Ashwin wasn't the same without his father, and he made one last voyage from Kuddah, to the Western Kingdoms, where he sold his father's ship to the First mate, and left them at the port city of Leyford, in search of Adventure.

Personal history
Ashwin was born into the Khan Merchant family, in the busy port city of kuddah. His mother passed away during his birth, and was looked after by his Aunt, while his father, Ranjit, sailed goods from the Eastern-kingdoms to the West.
When Ashwin was able to walk, his father brought him on his voyages, where he was taught all about the ship, and what it took to sail it.
At five years of age, Ashwin was working hard, climbing the ships rigging, and acting as lookout in the crow's nest, warning his father, and the crew of approaching corsairs and dangerous reefs, and sandbars.
It wasn't uncommon for corsairs to attack ships along the trade routes, and it became a necessity for Ashwin to learn how to fight. many of the ship's crew were skilled fighters, and Aswhin learned quickly, favouring an axe over the more common cutlass, but still using the Steel Buckler, common to Mytosan sailors.
In his fifteenth year, Ashwin was on look out duty, as the ship was rounding the Cape of Sands on a return voyage to Kuddah, when a swift Corsair ship appeared on the horizon. Quickly, the Corsairs closed in on the Merchant ship, and a violent battle ensued when the corsairs boarded.
Ashwin and the other sailors fought hard, their lesser numbers miraculously beating back the corsairs. As the grappling ropes were cut, and the Merchant's pushed off from the Corsair ship, An Eagle-eyed corsair, perched on the other ship's upper rigging, loosed an arrow, killling Ranjit instantly.
hiding his grief as best he could, Ashwin, with the help of the crew, gave his father a burial at sea, and continued on the voyage home. With Ranjit now dead, by rights the Merchant ship fell into Ashwin's possession. For several years after, he captained the ship, but it was never the same for him, without his father. He felt a longing for something to fill the hole that his father had left, and he decided no long to continue the family trade.
When the Ship arrived in the Western-Kingdom of Mahgar, at a port city called Leyford, Ashwin left his crew, selling the ship to the first mate, and set off on his own, heading further south.
a week before his twenty-fifth birthday, he arrived in the city of Ondos, just as they were preparing for a siege.
He had arrived onboard a cargo ship, carrying vital supplies for the city. On this voyage, he heard stories about the fabled ghost Archipelago, and the tales of the great Heritors.
Something in Ashwin, told him that a voyage to the Ghost Archipelago is what he needed, and how proud his father would be of the riches he could bring back from those lost islands.
Following the siege, Ashwin heard that a Heritor had just purchased a ship in the city, and was looking for able crew to sail for the Ghost Archipelago. Not thinking twice, Ashwin signed on board, already feeling a new sense of life within him.
