Secured the Serpent's amulet from the Gauntlet of statues.

Helga began her first of many trials in pursuit of the Serpent's gift. Her first task was to retrieve the two-headed serpent amulet from the gauntlet, A ruined temple, filled with statues, and traps. Not only did she and her crew have to navigate the ruins, but they also had to fight off a rival war band. The gauntlet: Helga stormchild had at last arrived on the island, detailed on the map, given to her by one of the Serpent Cultists in a dream. Anchoring the 'Tempest' in natural harbour, she set off, with a landing crew in search of the first trial of the Serpent. After several hours sweating in the oppressive heat of the tropics, the landing party emerged from the jungle, finding themselves on the edges of a Marsh, surrounded by rocky crags, thorny shrubs and palms. In the middle of the clearing, a crumbling temple. Stood, its roof long since rotted away, exposing the statues it once sheltered, to the blistering heat. Before Helga could take a further step, a figure appeared before her, wrapped in black, hooded robes. Helga stood firm, unafraid at the sudden appearance of the cultist from her dreams. The cultist held out a gloved hand, palm open, revealing a talisman of a two headed snake. "prove yourssself, to the Ssserpent" hissed the cultist, it's glowing eyes never moving from Helga's own, "and find hisss icon among the gauntlet" As suddenly as they had appeared, the cultist vanished into thick tendrils of black, inky smoke, leaving the talisman hanging in the air for a brief second, before it was suddenly launched toward the standing statues. It was then, Helga realised they were not alone. Across the clearing came much shouting and cursing as a second Heritor came rushing toward the statues, accompanied by a band of sea dogs and regal looking Crossbowman, who would have looked more at home guarding a parlance than exploring the tropical Ghost Archipelago. Helga wasted no more time, running forward, accompanied by Jareth, Sister Morgan, and Isabel. The rival heritor and his warband were first to arrive near the statues. Helga and her companions stopped in their tracks as screams came from their rivals. She just saw a series of slicing blades swing out of one statue, and a hail of darts fly from another. The place was booby trapped. As the other warband recovered from. The surprise of the first traps, they leveled their crossbows, and fired upon Helga, and her companions. Sister Morgan, the Warrior priest and Daughter of Hasloc, God of Dusk, took a bolt to the thigh, causing her to cry out in pain. From a vantage point atop a rocky crag, Helga's Earth Warden, Sophia Janus slammed her foot down on the ground, causing a great wall of rock and dirt to appear before Helga and the others, protecting them from the hail of bolts. Nearby to Sophia, Murray, a skilled archer jumped across the uneven rocks, trying to get a good line of sight on the crossbowman as they weaved in between the statues and pillars, that still stood. Several times, he loosed arrows, to miss only by a fraction. Behind the earthen wall, Helga let her blood burn start, the familiar tingle in her veins like an old friend, unlike the sensation of burning alive when she was a Child. She placed her hands on Sister Morgan, transferring her own energy into healing the warrior priest. With renewed vigor, Sister Morgan and Helga charged out from. Behind the earthen Wall, ready to attack the crossbowmen. Hamish and Anna Shadar, raiders from the far east, who had joined Helga long before the journey to the Ghosts, had approached the temple unmolested by both the rival warband and the traps that lay in wait. Hamish took one look at the closest statue and saw it, resting in the crook of its arm. The talisman. Quickly, he snatched it up, just as Ben and Cheryl, two other soldiers who had served with Helga before the journey, caught up with them. Turning about, hamish began to run back toward the rock crags, and safety from the crossbow bolts that now flew their way. Ben and Anna covering him, using their shield to stop the heavy bolts. Cheryl, one of the ship's deckhands, more used to fighting ship to ship, than on land, charged into the center of the ruined temple, where two sea dogs from the rival Warband hand just pried treasures from several statues. With her, Isabel and Jarreth came, weapons drawn and ready for battle. Isabel laughed, with an evil glint in her eye, as she brought her blade around in a backhand swing, cutting the sea dog's arm deep. He howled In pain, dropping the treasures clutched in his hand, before Cheryl delivered a rough kick to his chest, before snatching up his treasure. Jareth had split up from the two women, and was attempting to attack another seadog, when the Heritor leader of the other warband appeared, swinging their heavy sword in a downwards cut that could have beheaded the treasure hunter. Instead, Jareth sidestepped the blow, and swung his club hard, trying to bludgeon the Heritor's hip. Instead his club swung through thin air. He stepped back in amazement, before realising the Heritor was now at the foot of a deep pit. He quickly looked over his should, back at the rocky crags, and spotted Sophia give him a friendly wave. A crossbow bolt then struck Jareth on the arm, causing him to fall backward. Managing to pick himself up, he stumbled back toward the safety of the crags. Helga, by now, had entered the temple ruins. Properly, throwing two knives at the seadogs and crossbowmen of the rival heritor's warband, as they began a retreat. Both knives missed their mark, causing Helga to curse. For a while she stood in the temple, watching the other Heritor, having pulled the self out of the warden's pit, fall back with his crew. When at last she could no longer see her rivals she turned back to regroup with her own crew. Bak at the crags, Hamish handed Helga the Talisman. It was a well made piece, made of gold with onyx eyes. It glinted in the sunlight, and felt cool to the touch as she ran her fingers over it, before the eyes suddenly glowed red and black smoke poured from the mouths of each head. Again the figure from her dreams appeared. "very good." it hissed. "the real trialsss await you now, for the first, you must walk the path of ssserpentsss, once their, you will know what to do….."
