Emily was born in Detroit, grew up here, and became a reporter in the City. But she wasn't born Wolfblooded. In fact, Emily became Wolfblooded spontaneously after witnessing a spirit puppeteering a mortal killer she was following for a story she was researching. But on seeing the Supernatural elements, she became obsessed and foiled the spirit several times before it came after her.
Emily's first change was the night the murder-spirit came after her. The fight was short and bloody and ended with the would-be killer mauled to death "by an animal attack" and Emily exonerated from all charges. Emily swore to the Moon and was marked by her Auspice. Emily's Glory and Wisdom marks were burned into her by the Ithalunum that night, but she doesn't remember that that well.
In seeking answers to what the hell just happened, Emily tested herself, theorized and hypothesized. Then, after her startling discovery of her condition, began a new project. She researched werewolf sightings and actually tracked down a real werewolf, and that began her introduction into Werewolf society. Emily drove out and met them and was inducted into the Bone Shadows after a few weekend trips they funded.
Emily returned to Detroit after becoming a Bone Shadow and tracked a series of mysterious deaths all over the city. Eventually she found another Werewolf - Virgil. When she confronted him they spoke briefly and Emily's eyes were opened to the "big issue" facing Detroit: Vampires. That's when she and Virgil formed their pack. Initially the two worked on buying a house and clearing out nearby bloodsuckers, but that recently changed with the arrival of Trinity.
