A Strange Meeting

Arrived in (town name). The tavern is a little run down, but much better than the open road. It will do me good to sleep in an actual bed tonight. I was just siting down to eat when another group of travelers entered the bar, one of which was a bard. It was shaping up it be a pleasant evening, when we heard something outside. It was a dragon! An actual dragon! It was agitated, and matters weren't helped by one of the patrons moving to attack it. Fortunately, the bard and one of his companions calmed it, and we discovered one of its young was in danger. We helped to free it, and the dragon went on it's way in peace. A merchant also arrived, and had some interesting books. Unfortunately, I didn't quite have the funds to purchase them all, so I agreed to help guard his cart as he travels to Derelorn. The bard and his two friends have made similar agreements. They don't seem particularly bright, but pleasant enough. Except for the goblin that is. He smells, and seems to be singularly focused on blowing things up, which he accomplishes with strange devices he appears to conjure magically. I get the feeling he is going to be a problem.
