It was a relief to be given the job to hunt the bogarts in the basement of the Starlit Tower. As we moved to speak with the headmaster, I had my doubts, thanks to the motley crew that I had been given charge over. Granted they had wanted to serve justice to the rude halfling and I may have sped that sentiment through a well-placed prestidigitation, I had more than expected the headmaster to take one look at our group, recite the words above the entrance to the tower, and swiftly have us removed. Sticky fingers were more than rampant in our group and I thought that would be our end.
I took charge of the keys and keeping track of our successful kills since I knew I would be the one later subjected to a zone of truth by the headmaster. The weight of truth fell upon my shoulders in the group, since the others were more flamboyant in their tellings than truthful. I chose to go first and to stand in front through every encounter, if it meant that the party would make it through the tower unscathed.
Even so, we barely had cleared one room before I was threatening to smite someone due to wanting to remove something from the tower. I could honestly care less what the item was, but no one was going to remove something from the tower as long as I was still in charge. I am unsure if my words sunk in, but there was a chance that they would eventually listen.
It was slow going through the first rooms of the basement. The bogarts were crafty things, laying traps for us to fall into. We had somehow picked up another party member before entering the dungeon, and their shield, along with that of Squall, came in handy when I needed to enter a room slowly when there were projectiles coming my way. I did have to laugh when the tabaxi made the mistake of not standing behind me as asked and was quickly covered in a layer of extremely sticky glue.
The room with the cauldrons was more entertainment still as some of our largest party members soon found themselves stuck headfirst into a pot. I unintentionally found a very unorthodox way to use my lay on hands to heal a party member while in that room as well.
This account of the basement of the Starlit Tower is just beginning, but I had to hastily scribble these thoughts down while the others took a short rest before moving even deeper below the tower. Our bogart count is high, but it seems that something else may also be lurking in the depths below.
