Having an off day Rosalie slams the door to her apartment. Not only did she have a bad hunt recently but she was in a bad mood after a crappy day at work. Not only did she have a shit show of customers at the bar they made a mess she had to spend extra time cleaning up.
And if it wasn't that bad she felt like she was making no progress in finding Carlisle.
She exhaled deeply as she pulled the pink blackout curtains to cover her windows. It was going to be one of those days. Taking a long shower she changed into some more comfortable clothes and went to sleep. She would have the night off tomorrow and she was looking forward to it, she would not have to deal with her "pet" she was in charge of he would be working. She purposely changed her days off to avoid him at home when she could, she could only take so much of him especially since he reminded her of Charlotte.
The next night after Pete had left for work she got up and smiled. She went into her fridge digging behind the bottles of blood she took out a few basic ingredients. She climbed her counter to get to the highest back shelf to get the flour and rest of her baking ingredients, even her apron was up there. She reminiscent about the times she would bake with her mother and how her brother loved her cakes. Absent-mindedly put on her apron and opened a window, doing the necessary steps she needed to. By memory she measured out everything and started baking. With a heavy sigh a put the cake into the oven. "Pathetic... not like I can really enjoy it...." she beat herself up for it but it was something she did every so often. It didn't bring her joy as often as she would have liked it was more of a habit she had when she was upset when she was still human. Her mother and grandmother taught her how to bake as a young girl. It was a happier part of her childhood where they were technically conditioning her into becoming the perfect wife but she knew none the better.
She smelled the cake and thought it smelled both deliciously sweet and disgusting. The thought of her eating and then having to throw it back up made her feel disgusted. She hated the feeling of throwing up. Just as the timer rang she carefully took out the cake and let it cool.
Lazing around her house as it did she played with the ring on her necklace.
Enough time had passed and she iced the cake, she made a red velvet cake which looked like blood and almost seemed appetizing.
She had looked at her masterpiece and was almost tempted to eat it. Being a sweets person she almost missed eating them and enjoying her own baking. Everything about this cake was making her more and more upset with her new life. Everything she wanted as a human was gone and she would never be able to get any of it back. As much as she tried to remember to be human and feel some kind of emotions she knew they wouldn't be real. She would try to find a way so they would be though, being a vampire was both a blessing but a curse.
