The Zodiark Chronologicals VI

by L'Enfant Sauvage

2nd Chapter — L'Enfant Sauvage
— The Zodiark Log 006 — Year 200
Location: Aquaveil — Hydrarok Dominion

(Personal Notes) — I believe we have encouraged our second skybeast.

As we were preparing to rest for the night, we, well, I was still in pain, I found Shurr at the bridge contemplating the night sky with his new star map. There was, apparently, some anomaly with it that reminded me of this adventure book I read a long time ago, where a pirate ship would use a cloaking device that reflected the sky behind it, but reversed… Almost mockingly I activated Zodiark's radar, expecting nothing… but something did registered.

While Soot and Shure powdered-up the ships guns, hoping it had enough power for a couple shots if needed, I ran to find Talia and Yunseul. I managed to reach Yunseul with the telecommunicator, but Talia wasn't responding when the creature attacked… will have a conversation with the crew about security procedures, I have a feeling not all have read the manuals.

The Zodiark opened fire on the creature, and with some help from us outside, it was brought down.

This octopus-like monster looked sickly, infected, probably why it had been so easy to bring down. And it was apparently attracted by the lights our crew had fixed earlier for the celebration of the solstice.

Besides the slight overlooking of the security procedures, I'm extremely impressed by how efficient the Zodiark’s crew is. I even forgot I was in the middle of a battle and got distracted just watching how powerful they all are. Wonder if I'm good enough for this crew, I have to step up, will start training more, Soot will help me.
