Kelsa declares that it’s time for the Duskfall festival tomorrow so we must start scouting targets and eliminating the competition
Elli and Marlie would rather put on a play, but Blythe, Drevlin, and Cordelia say that Kelsa knows best; they all follow Kelsa, BB, Dax, and Helwyn into the streets
the group is attacked by a group of High Horns led by Ballhorn and Bullhorn
Kelsa is gravely injured; Drevlin is stabbed; but all of the High Horns in this group are killed, younger and older kids alike
the last, running away, is apparently killed by Indigo as he pursues them
Blythe grabs one of their daggers during the fight (the one that stabbed Drevlin), but cannot hit anyone
(Post Session)
returning to the Pickle house, Blythe goes into her dresser
she screams at the brownies to leave her alone and begins chopping at a tree with the dagger
she eventually falls asleep in the grass
when she awakens, she cleans herself and her clothes and returns to the Pickle house
Dax and Helwyn argue about what to do; as Blythe exits the dresser she hears a voice in her head: “Earth grows”
she ignores it, visits Kelsa, who’s unconscious, and then goes to find Drevlin
she finds Drevlin upstairs, in the former library, still covered and blood, shivering and crouched over Maggie
on Maggie’s pages is a map leading to the High Horns’ hideout in the docks
Blythe tries to convince him that they don’t need to go there, but he insists, and she tells him he’s not going anywhere without her, ever
she grabs the dagger and the parchment book, which she intended to give to him, but declares it isn’t finished yet
back downstairs, Blythe tells Marlie she needs to learn how to fight; Marlie suggests they scare the other kids rather than hurt them: “If Drevlin and Kelsa fight, I have to fight.”
Indy reveals the note he found on one of the dead Horns, revealing the location of the Pickle house
Dax accuses Helwyn of betraying the Pickles’ location to the Horns
Helwyn supposed to marry Bluehorn before her parents lost everything
her family’s company went under, they lost the house to debtors, and were killed because they couldn’t pay
Marlie stitches up Drevlin’s stab wound; Blythe offers to do it because she knows embroidery and her mother told her she had neat stitching - instead he holds her hand while Marlie sews
Drevlin tells Blythe and Cordelia that he and Dax have a plan
based on “fire burns, wind blows, earth grows, water freezes,” we concoct a ritual to try to protect the house, gathering up the four elements and drawing out a pentacle and collecting our blood
