Heritages
Heritage Overview
Characters generally don't just appear out of thin air. They have(or perhaps had) a family, a home, a race, a culture, a system of beliefs and ideologies that define who they are prior to setting out on their adventure. Flagstone has races, but these races are generally nested within a broader group identity. For example, the Ankhana are a collection of carnivorous mammalian humanoids that resemble a number of creatures from the sub-saharan region of the African continent on Earth. Heritages typically contain many variants on a theme racially, while presenting a unified culture as a whole.
. The current heritages are:
- Ankhana - Mammalian desert dwelling carnivorous humanoids residing in the Pakhrani Desert.
- Fulmin - Draconic humanoids from the Dark Crescent Flame Isles.
- Humans - Crazy hairless monkeys with a fondness for doing what they can whether or not they should that spread out from the area known as Lakeland.
- Kar'chari- Militant shark-like humanoids from the coastal waters of the Dark Crescent Flame Isles
- Dremen - Creatures born from the collective imagination of sentient beings.
- Fayne (Planned) - Creatures that have had mana stripped away, leaving them as hungering creatures constantly in a state of decay.
- Eldar (Planned) - Elemental primal creatures of nature. Native to Duende, they settle in many locations, such as The Great Hart Forest.
Each heritage will include three categories of bonues: Body Plans, Inheritence, and Culture. Body plans are, as the name suggest, the overall physical form of the character. Different body plans provide many different advantages and disadvantages and generally come as a set. (Rules for Halfbreeds are not implemented at this time) Once a body plan has been selected, it is permanent. The individual elements of the body plan may be elegible for upgrades, but new body features are not accessible through normal means. A character's inheritence is what they receive from their parents, and typically will consist of two unlocked Keywords from each parent's primary Chakras. These do not give the character access to the entire Chakra. Finally, each character will gain some benefit for being raised in their particular culture. Whether it is the Fulmin's enhanced techniques for rune crafting or the Ankhana's Khipu armor, every culture has something to offer.
