Grey Wind Mercenaries

Military arm of the Grey Wind Company comprised of warriors recruited into the organization. There are many sub units and special teams within the Grey Winds.

Manpower

• Stonehollow Fort -- 10,000 Company members.

  • Blue Hawk Rangers -- or Blue Hawks -- An elite group of 150 rangers, created in 1083, that patrol the Frost Claw Mountains in Ventosh They are stationed at Stonehollow Fort on the eastern side of the mountains but scoure the entire range when out on assignment.

• Frost Grave Fort -- 5,200 Company members.

  • Icy Hammers -- or Skole hunters -- Started in 1108, the Icy Hammers are a group of 200 elite soldiers who specialize in blunt weapons for fighting skole stationed at Frost Grave Fort. The are tasked with rooting out skole nests in the Ketyat mountains near the northern Frost Plains.

• Treeth Fort -- 6,500 soldiers at full capacity.

  • Sky Igniters -- Started in 1135, the Sky Igniters are a group of 50 elite dragon riders stationed at Treeth Fort. They are tasked with patrolling the western Frost Claw Mountains in Ventosh and engagine groups of dragons and wyverns.


• Black Ice Fort -- 5,500 men at full capacity.

  • Black Ice Wranglers -- or White Dragons -- Started in 1180, the Black Ice Wranglers are a group of 300 elite dragon catchers stationed at Black Ice Fort. They capture dragons in the, oddly, high dragon populated forests of the Highland Peninsula.


• Perilean Fort -- 4,200 soldiers at full capacity.

  • Teal Scarves -- or Teal Scarves -- An elite group of 250 soldiers stationed at Perilean Fort who root out and fight skole nests in the Ketyat Mountains near Avil. They carry blunt weapons for fighting skole and all wear teal scarves as part of thier uniform, a tradition started by Eirlok Rock Biter when he started the group in 1213.


• Bloodsands Fort -- 3,800 soldiers at full capacity.
  • Special Teams
  • Sand Demons -- or Manticor Hunters -- Are an elite group of 400 manticor hunters started in 1272 and stationed at Bloodsands Fort. They are tasked with patrolling the Whispering Desert and engaging any manticor nests found. They carry spears and wear green headscarves, a tradition started by the unit's creator.

Weaponry

All members of the mercenary company are given a sword or a spear as their primary weapon. However, due to the different roles within the organization other members might have a different array of weapons for thier job.

When new members sign up with the Grey Wind Company they are placed into the ranks of the mercenaries. They can specialize thier role in the corps after a full 2 years of service.
